I finally got around to going through all 2,700+ pictures I took on that little motorcycle trip I took last August. I put together a little website that has all the pics on it. Spend some time checking it out. The site looks funny in IE 7, I might fix it later. You should be using Firefox anyway.

There are lots of vehicle pictures.

All 1,882 can be seen here.

Once a picture is loaded you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to go to the next one. Easier than clicking the mouse button.

This is why Yellowstone National Park is called Yellowstone. the walls of the valley are yellow. Massive waterfall. there is an observation deck on the right side of the waterfall, you cant see it in the pic.

What an awesome trip. I plan on doing the exact same someday...America is such an amazing place.

You must have worn out a set of tires on the trip. My bike wastes a set of tires in 6,500 miles.

    Fantastic. Trip of a lifetime.

Did you use that Rand-Mcnally biker's atlas to find cool roads?

What's the different colors on the route map? The days?

Did you have to deal with rain?

How'd you carry stuff? And how'd you secure it when you stop? Like at truck stops and bigger tourist stops.
I'd like to go out for more than 2-3 days with my T, but haven't figured how to handle the last two questions.

    Great pix!
My wife and I did 3800 miles out west this summer riding from Iowa to CA.on a BMW. Went through Canada too.
As a far as rain; You deal with it!
Packing, you learn to get by on a little bit.I had to deal with 49 degrees and rain up to 110. One day went from 49 to 100! One morning on a deserted stretch in the Oregon outback we stopped to check out the view and along comes a 1917 Pierce Arrow!
Packing it all on a bike will teach you to get focused. If I'd had a T I'd carried a lot more.

    Do it while you can:D

  20. Just looking through your bonneville pics...and was surprised to see myself in one of the photos...from the top deck of the parking garage at the nugget. I'm the tall guy in white shirt/pants on the upper left corner, in front of the yellow coupe.

Thanks for all the replies guys. You all are way too polite.

I used google maps to plan the route. I made a list of all the places i wanted to see and then just connected the dots. Google was a great tool.

The different colors on the map do represent the distance I wanted to go each day which was grossly exaggerated and unrealistic.

I had great weather until i got to Alabama where it poured for hours. I even had to stop and hang out under a bridge for an hour or so. I had a rain suit that kept me dry for the most part.

I made an aluminum thing that fastened into the location of my second seat. I could remove it just like i would remove the second seat to get to the little storage area. The aluminum bracket held my saddle bags in place and allowed me to stack my sleeping bag and tent on top and gave me a place to fasten bungee nets. It worked great. Next time I do think i will buy hard bags that are bolted on.

Here is a pic of my bike in my living room all loaded up the night before i left.

Forgot to add, you are to be HIGHLY praised for not having your bike (or hot rod, or ride of the day) in each of your photos! Junior photo adventurer you are not. I remember way back when when I took my first bike trip - had to put my well packed Yamaha 350 enduro in every shot. About a week later I was just plain bored silly doing it and figured everyone else would think so, too.

So... I got motivated and then tried to "hide" the bike in some shots, parking it way out in the background some place, or only revealing a headlight, or part of a tire or some portion of the bike which was intentionally placed around the fringes of the compositions. It wouldn't bore my friends later when I showed them my trip pix, and I could keep my audience on their toes, Where's Waldo-wise, if they really wanted to see photos of my bike on the road.
