Looking for some advice! I have a 1933 Ply (short wheel base) and looking to install cool/good engine/trans combo in it!

It’s currently set up for SBC and TH350. I have a mustang II up front and an old corvette rear installed. I plan on running full fenders and running boards.
    <O:p
I have been thinking of going to 354/392 Hemi with 727 torqueflite or TH350 combo. My other consideration is 401/425 Nailhead with 400 VP trans combo.
    <O:p
I have a line on both and just can’t decide how to go. SO I figured I would see what the over all consensuses are.
    <O:p
The Ply is going to be a driver and might see the track a once of twice a year! I would like to keep the hood on, but both engines are wide and I’ll probably need to take the sides of the hood off. Also, I think I might need to cut into to firewall.
    <O:p
    Any ideas????
    <O:p
Also, if any one has done the install into a Ply please post pics as I think this will help with deciding!

    Thanks!

Hemi with a 727 or a manual of some kind. What's wrong with a 331?

What? What did you guys expect me to say??:D

I have a Hemi for sale! It needs to be redone but its cheep.

  7. The Nailhead would be a little narrower and might fit between your hood sides. Besides that Nailheads are just cooler!

I can't believe I am even typing this, but why not just leave the SBC and do it up respectfully. Seems like a lot of work just to change to a different motor.

331 is good but for the same price i can get the 354 and just alittle more the 392!
The Nail also, looks cool and i can get into the 425/400 for less then the Hemi.
I know what your going to say! Ply=mopar co go Hemi.
Well kaiser/jeep used a buick in 1966 to 1970 so a Buick in mopar is acceptable! :)
I think both will look great!

i think you need to put a ford in your car

  17. HEMI all the way. Nailheads are cool, but not so cool that i'd put one in a Plymouth.

Can't argue with that if you can make that happen. Generally 354's go for a tad more and of course 392's are even further up the price ladder. All are great motors.

I have seen Nailhead and Hemis in Plys. Both look and preform sweet!
Hemi will cost more in long run! But thats not much of an issue right now! Just getting parts together. Got every thing i need minus enging/trans (well i got a TH350) But i dont need to use it! OR i could use it with the Hemi and not use a 727!
If i go Nailhead if got to go with the 400 VP! and not even consider the TH350!
