John, I have a set of these "bubble skirts" in fiberglas. They are not original Jimmy Dean ones, but they are pretty cool. (Ignore Bad Bob's comments, he has NO taste in cars), I was going to use them, but I have changed my mind...I picked up a set of the factory style (albiet Fiberglas) instead. I need the room in the garage more than the skirts---if you want them, they are up for grabs too. :D

They should be mounted as far back as possible without touching the radius that curves fron the lower quarter into the upper quarter. However ,the new breed of shemp glass ones cant because they are made too short

  6. How about these, do they look like JJ skirts too?

In 1955 when I lived in Western Pa a friend of mine went to Detroit for work. When he returned he was driving a black 53 Olds 88 lowered with a set of bubble skirts and also nose and decked. At that time he said that the skirts were made by a guy known as the "Chinaman". Could that have been the same guy? They fit the car perfect. That was the talk of the town,we had never seen anything like it.

Those skirts are way cool! Hand formed from junk car roofs...wow. Perfect or not, I'd run 'em.

  14. Yeah I like the ones he has for sale. I got these pics from another guy out East.

  24. Anthony (00Mack), do you think the ones I linked are JJ's or just a bubble skirt from the past? Bump.

OK, we get it , you don't like the skirts..how about leaving the thread for those who have something constructive to add..

Pro stock john, I believe those may be jimmy Jones bubble skirts as well, they definitely have the correct look. Are you able to buy them?..I'd say go for it...

  27. I can't remember the guy's contact info, I'll have to dig for it. I guess in my head I'd like to have a 'built in ca in 1952 car' and a 'built in the mw in 1958 car." :)

Just saw this post while browsing for skirts. I bought a set of steel bubble skirts off a guy in Canada, they look a lot like the ones pictured here. I thought they were Foxcraft but maybe not...
I think these would look best on a 49 or 50 but not a 51. My skirts are at slddnmatt's and will be going on my 50 that Matt has chopped for me. (sorry Bob). If I decide I don't like them I will change to 51 skirts. FYI those bubble skirts owe me over a grand!
