Have the chance to pick up a 59 Opal Rekord cheap. Overall good condition with a bit of rust on one floorboard and fender. Original 4 cylinder with bad timing gear. Anyone else ever had one or know much about them?

My first car was a 1957 Rekord 4 door! I was 13 years old,so I don't remember much about it.I think it was a 4 speed on the column.

This one is a 2 door, pretty much complete and in good overall condition. It is CHEAP to!!! Think I am going to go look at it tomorrow.

  6. Looks cool, sorta like a shoebox. Can't decide if I mean a Ford or tri 5. Look at the shape of the rear bumper! I hope it has a clear title.

Go for it. Would love to find a decent 1968 to 70 sedan.

I saw that. If it was closer I would take a look. A wagon sat in some bushes not for from my house up until last year. It was rotten in the bottom. The river had been up to it more than once in the last 20yrs.Good luck. Bill

There was an article back in the late 60s in one of the sporty car mags about two high school guys buying one of these, doing a real back yard, hack-job install of some mammoth V-8 motor and going out to terrorize the muscle cars of the day. One of the funniest stories I ever read, replete with pulling up to potential oponent at 60 mph and smoking the meats. Of course, it handled like crap, couldn't put any kind of tire under it and eventually shook itself to death.

Never had one but blow one up
with dynamite when i was 14.
If it not rusted more than that
its rare. Was a comon car in sweden
when new but you could hear them
rust at night. late 60s they was
    more or les gone

I had the hots for a opel, vauxhall or holden wagon a while back and would still like to have one for a v8 swap built gasser style, so I would definitely try to buy that one, wagon or not if it were near me that cheap.

Tho not the same, Heres some visual help
