Long time Drag racer (gasser and Jet powered Funny Cars Sonic Thunder) Lou Sattelmaier passed away Monday Dec. 28, 2009. He was 74. RIP Lou you will be missed....
Sweetest lookin deuce coupe on the planet. The green with gold trim would knock your eyes out in person. Thanks Lou
I spoke with Lou many times at the US Nationals in the late 60's. He always wanted me to make a fiberglass '32 shell to lighten up his car. R.I.P. old friend.
I've seen that '32 run a few times at Indy. It was a super clean car and always ran strong. My condolences to his family and friends. Frank
Wow...what a shock. I didn't realize Lou was in his 70's. I had the pleasure of racing him in the early 90's at one of the Indy nostalgia shows.... R.I.P. my friend. Rocky
I knew Lou well when I worked for Crane Cams back in the 70's, Great guy, always had time to talk to the people. bob urban
Powered by a million dollar J-60 Pratt Whitney engine capable of 6,000 pounds of thrust, Lou Sattelmaier's 1989 Ford Probe funny car can cover the 1/4-mile in 5.879 seconds, reaching a speed of 270.27mph (434.96kmh). The downside is it only gets .005 miles per gallon (approximately 200 gallons of fuel for every mile). I lived around the corner from Lou and his family for years. He was involved with the community (Brunswick Ohio and Medina County) and will be missed
R.I.P Lou, I live in the same town and have seen his car and his race truck and trailer go by, You will be missed.
Truly a terrible year for our sport/hobby/lifestyle/whatever.............May 2010 be a better, flagship year for everyone. What a tragic loss of racing history.
No doubt 2009 had had many tragic losses in our fraternity. All we can hope for is a better 2010 and its a wake up call for all us old guys. You never know when your calling will be sent and your time is up. I thank the Lord every morning my feet hit the floor because I get to see another day and another opportunity to tell my family I love them. RIP Lou and you will get to see many old friends now. Condolences to your family in there time of need.
