Starts airing tonight Dec 28th on the Discovery Channel 10pm

    First episode...."The Gasser"
The Detroit Brothers push the boundaries of automotive engineering. They assemble a team of builders to compete for five grand in tools if they complete a challenge in five days. This week's challenge: Turn a slow-rolling 1928 Ford Model T into a hot rod.

Motor City Motors follows renowned fabricators and custom-bike builders Dave and James Kaye, founders of Detroit Bros. Custom Cycles.

Watch each week as the brothers — with their father, John — tap into the Detroit-based talent and assemble a team of builders and specialists. Together they push the boundaries of automotive engineering to create one-of-a-kind vehicles — with a five-day limit for each build.

From turning a 1929 Model T into one of the coolest gassers in the city to transforming a 1992 GMC Suburban into a pothole filler, the builds are limited only by the ingenuity and imagination of the Detroit Brothers and their crews. The Kayes hope the series gives the local community, as well as their own struggling business, a much-needed boost.

<!-- ## WIDGETS [ context : in | columns : 1 / 2 ] --><!-- ## ARTICLE -->Brothers Dave and James Kaye started Detroit Bros. Custom Cycles in 2002. Their mission is to build totally unique motorcycles that focus on the mechanical and subversive, while bucking the trend of homogenous mass-produced choppers. Their designs reflect the city of Detroit: classically styled, yet technologically progressive. Each bike the brothers build is a one-off endeavor, and they approach it as not only a motorcycle, but also as a rolling piece of art.

James Kaye was classically trained as a metal sculptor at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Mich.

Dave Kaye graduated from the University of Michigan Business School with a degree in finance and worked on the Chicago Board Options Exchange as an equity options market maker.

My buddy Al is one of the builders on episode 11, I think they filmed 12 so far. Should be cool to watch as long as they don't get too carried away.

If their car building skills are as well as their bike building skills, they will be doing fine. Really creative and "outside the box" thinking.

How do we get on the show?

  4. Thanks Denise for the heads up on this........Happy New Year girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Sounds like it's going to be as stupid as Monster Garage (transforming a 1992 GMC Suburban into a pothole filler, or a "Model T Gasser") and judging by the "Style" of their bikes, I have no doubt that will be the case. I'll pass.

  6. May have to interupt my date, with the girlfriend. Got my alarm, on the cell phone set. Thanks Denise.

p.s. maybe they can show how to properly mount a fire extinguisher, inside a car.;)

I've been bombarded with the promo spots for a while now, still a bit gun-shy on the "formula" Thom Beers shows. Some shows are genuinely interesting but a rehash of MG doesn't excite me.

When can we get a hot rod show run by hot rodders?

If their car builds are as unusual as their bike builds the series will not last long! These shows are not normally geared toward a HAMB friendly crowd. But I will watch tonights show out of curiosity.

  21. I'll watch it to see Mr. Brimm.

  22. I agree with HOTRODDON, if they cant tell the difference between Model A's and Model T's, it isn't worth watching. There is no doubt that they will call it a RATROD somewhere in the show and that will ruin it for the vast majority of us. I think RYAN should start a show and ask everyone (or almost everyone ) on the board for input, that way there would be atleast ONE realistic hotrod show on the tube instead of all this DRAMA CRAP. I guarantee that this show will be all about the DRAMA just like Monster Garage, OCC and others. I hope I'm wrong and everybody likes it but I got a feeling ......... Mike.

  23. Huh ? Peace,,,Moosie

  24. Thanks for the reminder, I have been seeing previews for it and forgot that it was on tonight. I will give it a chance.
