Looking awesome! My vote is for the chop. The window slits only have to be big enough to see the black line.

  2. chchchchop it!! Im looking forward to seeing the steering arms on with the tie rod and seeing how they clear the frame ei dropped ,notched ,Im sure you have a plan lets see it!

I think the car the Bones crew built for Dennis Varni has a really nice proportion. I wouldn't go any more than that. Maybe even 1" higher. I think it had a 1/2" front to rear difference. Just my 2 cents.

  4. with the hood on and that stance, my vote would be leave it un-chopped...but thats just one mans two coppers...:D:rolleyes:

Jeez man, this thing is totally bitchin!
If you shorten the shell as you say it will be perfect!
As for the chop i'd do it just like this. Pretty neat way of plannin
this is, of course you need to master photochop as well as the hacksaw!:D

edit: ona second sight maybe i'd make the transition betwen the 4 and 5" chop
a little bit more "even" if you pass me the term, but it might also be just that you
master the hacksaw better than photoshop :D :D

I decided that the front was a little lower that I wanted it. So I flipped the spring perches so they shoot up instead of down. That raised me up 1 1/2", and now it looks like the car could actually be road worthy instead of looking like you couldn't even get out of the driveway.

Then I wanted to mock it up with the full hood and that raised the grill up some. So now i have enough room that I wont have to raise the bottom of the grill any.

Ok, if you have to raise her up. . . ah ha I think the grille looks best in its original length. I was gonna say leave it, but now you're already leaving it. Sorry, pics are still on the camera. doh! ha ha

  11. And I see you are running an authentic Mexican blanket radiator cover!

    It's looking really good though.

another vote for chop, the middle pic is dead on. Is there enough room for the tie rod to pass above the rails and clear the engine? I'd hope that you wouldn't settle for the spindle forward remedy. I'm actually in the same boat at the moment. I bought the Pete & Jake's semi-flat spindles but they're so friggin long, yet, not long enough to drop down below the wishbones. I too have to section the shell for ground clearance, there's about 1.75" at the moment.
Car looks good either way, but, I still say, chop!

Hurry up and start cutting before the "non-chop" crowd start to influence you in a bad way.

Dont chop. Maybe later. Too much chop and they looked smashed stink bug style. But each to his own. Very nice either way. Great photos and great build. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for everyones comments. Its fun to see other people's opinions on chopping or leaving it stock. I'm defiantly going to chop it though. It looks good as is but it will look so mean with a slammed roof.

Ive been working on patching the drivers cowl. Its all tacked in place, now I just need to finish weld and smooth out the panel.

The edge next to the door was really nice. And its a whole lot easier to make the patch if you don't have to flip more than one edge.

Ive been working on getting the new roof pieces spliced into the body. Ive almost got it to the point where I can start chopping the top. Just got to get all the wood in place, and start laying the chop out.

she must have been living in your model a coupe, and left when you took it home. I'm hoping she comes back when your coupe returns to the shop. :)

You are a true artist in replacement sheet metal work. Thanks for saving another one. I bet you could make one if you had too. Looking forward to the surgery and recovery period. Not too much...Do you sleep?
