you'd attract more attention with a better title. ""altered wheelbase 55 Chevy from Robinson Ill anybody seen it?""

I've never seen the car. Who built it?

After enlarging the photo, the name on the door looks to be Bill Shipman? Has Doug given you any info?

well now I just saw this thread. I called bill shipman. From Pa. He told me he built an altered w/b 55 chevy in 61. raced it in new jersey marland areas. sold the car in 62 to someone from western pa. then lost track of the car. the car orginally had a 327 vette drive train. that car was built in a one car garage like most were back then. what kinda info are you looking for?

Red, I would agree you should go back and edit the title with a little more detail. That is a pretty unique car. I would be shocked if someone didn't know something about it.

<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e5e5e5; COLOR: #e5e5e5" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Practically lived at Skip's from '68 till they shut the doors. Never really ventured anywhere else except for a couple trips to North & Clybourn in '69. Don't know why I didn't spend a lot more time there. Something about that location really excited me. Maybe it was the stories I heard about the big money action there, or maybe the famous / infamous cars that raced there, like the "Streetcleaner", or maybe it was just the smell of fresh baked bread in the area???? Wonder what some of the big time street racers from "back in the day" are doing today?
