Art & Inspiration DVD recomendations?????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tugmaster, Nov 3, 2009.

  1. I have a few extra bucks for once and I wanted to pick up a few DVDs. Any one have any first hand knowledge of some really good ones? I was looking at the Devil at your feet and the Mad Fabricators series. Not looking for technial or how to DVDs more of just cars and people stuff.
    Thanks, Todd

  2. You can't go wrong with Mad Fabricators...watched 'em a lot and still enjoy them
Dreams of Legends is another great set...a lot of history with those
Devil at your Feet is also good
Evel's new one about the photography of Barris promises to be another must have

  3. "Tales of the Rat Fink". There are a lot of cool cars, stories, shots of the old days of rods and customs in general.

you can't go wrong with mad Fabricators, i watch them all the time and they never get old! Also the Hot rod havoc series is pretty good! The Mooneyes X-mas party DvD's. Hell any DVD that supports traditional hot rods and customs are awesome!

  7. If you keep your eyes peeled, sometimes 'Tales of the Rat Fink' is on cable showing on the Independent Film Channel or the Sundance Channel....

I own the first Hot Rod Havok.
It's about a half hour long. It's a montage of the southern California traditional and not so traditional rod/cruiser/flatblack shitbox scene with a few punk bands' music being played to the footage. Throw in a couple choppers.
The bonus footage stuff is an hour or so. Meh.

I wouldn't spend more than like 15$ for it if you can get your hands on it.
It's alright. I think it's like 20-25$ on their site...not worth it IMO.

I'd like to check out Mad Fabricators myself. Seen a few clips online.

In all modesty and humbleness, if you like old school Funny Cars, with some Diggers and Altereds thrown in for good measure... There's Drag Racing Underground's FUNNY CAR REUNION RAW... It runs about 2hrs and it features footage from 3 combined years of Old Bridge Township Raceway Park's Old Time Drags/Funny Car Reunion... I'm just tellin' ya about it for the h*ck of it, yeah, it's my company, but you certainly aren't being pushed into buyin' it--- The d*rn thing has already sold over 10,000 copies worldwide, so like I said, I don't really care one way or another if ya buy it-- Just giving ya the heads-up, in case it's your kinda thing, that's all, if it ain't your thing it's all the same to me, doesn't matter... There's lots of groovy DVDs out there for the taking, ya just have to know where they are... Good luck hunting... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

All the Mad Fabricators are awesome. Devil's at your feet and Road to Boniville are both great and the 3 Volumes of Choppahead Mayhem Machines are excellent, more bike shit but there is some real good stuff in them also!

  24. I just got the Photography of Barris DVD and it is excellent...the style is cool...gave me an insight to Barris that I otherwise wouldn't have had...cool interviews...loved the scenes with Mr. Watson and Mr. Barris reminiscing and talking about hookups with chicks! Great job Evel

There are lots of good ones for sure. "Junkyard to Finish Line" is one of my favorites and is available "used" on Amazon for about four bucks from American Classics. It is about a couple of guys putting a 54 Merc together for the Carrerra Pan-America rally in Mexico. Starts out a little goofy but the second half which is filmed during the race is really worth seeing.
