Using a 49 Ford hood on a 51 Ford

My hood opened on the highway!! A friend offered up his 49 hood. I know the hinges were different. What do I need to know to get this to work?

 

The latch is different too. You'll need the center section between the fenders from the '29 also.

 

I might have a spare set of hinges laying around, PM me if you need them.

 

If your grill and surround are stock you will have to recontour the leading edge of the hood to remove the "hump".

 

Ahh. I didn't know about the latch. Might be able to use the nose from my bent 51 hood for a filler piece for where the 49 hood has that half moon shape it. Then I could probably retain the 51 latch, right?

 

I just bought a '51 hood & latch panel for my '50. I was unaware of the hinges being different. I also have an extra latch panel. Maybe we can work out a swap? PM please.

 

the hinges are the same for 50 and 51 just the 49 is different

 

Well, I'm good than. I think I got some '49's in the attic.

Does anyone know whats different with the hinges?
