Just finished rebuilding my '66 C10's stock 327. Installed it 2 days ago. Haven't yet started it...gotta get exhaust on it first. Bored 30 over, Comp Cam XE262H, 462 Camel Humps, Speedway TruRam exhaust manifolds, Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock carb, HEI, Brockman steel packed Mellowtones, rebuilt 4 spd tranny...
Mine is a .060 over small journal 327 stock crank has been knife edged and lightened H beam rods TRW 12.5 pistons. The bottom end has been balanced main studed and runs a windage tray.Heads are Brodix -8 2.05-1.60 valves D port spread exhaust cam will be a mech. roller somewhere in the .660 range. Weiand tunnel ram 2 660 center squirters and a Ronco mag. Trans is a super T10 with 4.88 Olds rear. Should be fun.
1965 300hp , small journal , 30 over , Isky solid cam , Crane roller tips , 5qt Corvette pan / windage tray , Tremec 5 speed with 4.56 Trutrac 9" Ford rear . In my '32 5W . Sure is fun..........Z.
Mines in my 66 chevy2 post. 69 large journal bored 0.60, cast flatops about 10.5:1, balanced,194 humps, ported, 3angle valve job ,blueprint series L79 cam, roller tip rockers,GM "snow flake alum. intake with a 625 AFB. Dual point Accell with mech. tack, big old Mallory coil. Long tube fenderwell headers and balance tube, turbo mufs. muncie 4 speed and 3.08 posi with 26" tires. This car is a real sleeper. Nice and smooth and quiet but revs to the moon and pulls really strong. Ive shamed many a bigblock Chevel or Camaro with this little car. Ive built lots of 327s and the simple combos like this seem to run the hardest and last.
throw me in the 327 club, .40 over pistons, large journal 4 bolt main, crane cam for the 350hp build, 194 double humps, three duece c362s intake, ansen scattershield with a m-22 muncie 4 speed stuffed in my model A coupe Angelika
_______________________________________________________________ The non-fuelie 327's went to 365 HP, identical motor with hydraulic cam (L-79) was 350 HP. I think a realistic HP number might be in the 500 HP area if you had all that work done. I also believe you should expect a lot less HP at the rear wheels then you expect. I think the motor sounds like a fun motor.............good luck and enjoy it.
love 327's-wife's 55 has a 65 327, flattops, schneider cam,461's, factory 365HP intake with AFB-been in there since 81-rebuilt at 80K--very strong, had 40 rag and 40 coupe with early small journal motors set up the same--ran very strong, have a fresh 62 on a stand ready to go same setup--friend has one with 10.5 comp, 461X heads ported, some kind of bullit rollercam setup that I'm not familiar with ,factory dual quad intake with afb's--idles@ 1100 but is fine with a 4spd--dynoed at 423HP @6000 ! high dollar setup but very strong runner--can't beat a 327 for me-- have a very good running 350 in my 40 now, but just doesn't have the "snap" of a 327--going to put the 62 327 in it during the winter another good cam for an automatic car in a 327 is a SIG split duration--TQ20 spec on the intake and TQ30 on the exhaust-have the actual specs somewhere-this cam ran the hardest in our 55 at the drags with a PG and 3.55 rear (stronger than L-79, comp 268,etc)
I run a 327 in my '62. It's a virgin '65 300 hp, 1.94 camel backs, 10.5:1's, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Edelbrock 650 AVS carb. Before dropping it in all I did was steam clean it, paint it, put in new gaskets and a 224/224 Summit cam. It has about 70,000 original miles on it and it still runs very strong. It's a fun little engine... I love it... Nothing beats a good running 327 IMO...
Years ago I had a buddy with a stone stock 63 Impala SS that had the 327/300 & 4-speed. That little motor pulled hard thru the gears even lugging that big Impala around. He never added any hot rod parts either, just a sharp tune up. I'm driftin' off topic here but remember the really cool Impala tach that bolted onto the dash above the column that had the green / yellow / red under the numbers. Those were the days.
Mine is a 68 327/210hp out of a base camaro. Transplanted to my '55 210 with a muncie and 3.73 gears. Nothing fancy on the build, just tore it down, polished the crank a bit with some emory cloth, honed with a dingle berry, put new clevite bearings (std.), new speed pro cast rings. Re-used the cast crank, rods & bolts, gm pistons for the shortblock. Put on used set of vortec heads with comp beehive springs. Roller rockers from jegs and a GMPP single plane with a demon carb. Fel pro steel shims with .015 compressed thickness so I'm around 9-9.2:1 compression. Fire comes from an aged accel dual point distributor and cam is a comp 274 xs solid. Long tube headers to thrush $25 specials I found at advance auto. (If you happen to check the pics in my profile, this is the engine before I switched to the single plane). Jesus, I would have never thought this thing would be a peppy as it is. Runs damn strong to 6,500. I'm sure I'm gonna loose a rod soon on stock bolts though...oh well.
Have a 67 327 out of a Camaro, 60K in PA, was in a 56 till the 265 got rebuilt, if your looking for one.
I got 67 327. Its bored .120 over, flat dome pistons, racing cam, performer intake, 650 economy carb but thinking about putting a 750 dp on, putting headers on this weekend

I've got a 300 hp 327 out of a 66 chevelle that i'm going to put in my 30 model a tudor. Rebuilt stock except for a little hotter cam and an old edelbrock with triple 94's.
I've run a 327 in my '57 since 1977. The current mill is .030 over with flat top pistons and a mild .445 lift cam. The heads have 1.94/1.50 valves with some port matching to the intake and exhaust manifolds. Edelbrock C4B with Holley 650 cfm. 4 bbl. and 2 1/2 inch Rams horn manifolds and pipes. Makes about 220 hp at the rear wheels through a Muncie 4-speed and Ford 9" with 3.5 gears. Except for the machine work, I am proud to say I built the motor myself.
I dreamed about my hot rod for 30 years before this past year when I fianlly found it. It came with a nice little 350 but for me it had to be a 327. I have seen it in my mind and it wouldn't be the same so even though it's not a beast it suits me just find. 1969 327, stock crank turned 10/10. Comp 495 lift cam, double hump heads, flat top pistons, roller rockers, 2.02 valves with screw in studs and Z28 springs, balanced and blue printed, topped off with Offy intake, 3 duce setup and ceramic coated hugger headers. I have a Muncie to bolt in as soon as I get it rebuilt but for now I have a 700 R4 and 373 gears. For anyone interested I have a little website at www.diagensis.com that you can see the project. There are lots on pictures in the gallery. You'll notice the engine that came with it was the 350 with hot rod headers but I changed those out to move the pipes under the car. Gallery pics show the engine change. Really fun to drive.......
Having my third 300HP camel humper built, got one in my deuce PU project, One in my soon to be on the road deuce 3 window and now the next one will go in my gennie deuce roadster. I remember how smooth they ran back in the 60s. I beat the shit out of several of them and they kept on going.
Question for all you 327 experts! I remember the 327 as a fast reving engine but the one in my little hot rod just doesn't seem the have the same reving characteristics. Could it be that I have the 700 R4 botled behind it? Something to do with the torgue converter compared to the clutch assebly?
I have a 67 327 sj .030 over with a steel crank,10.5 forged TRW's,pink rods,441's milled to 64cc,2.02/1.60 Manley valves & springs, port & polished,1.65 Harlan Sharp roller rockers, Comp Cams 523 lift, PJ gear drive,DUI HEI distributor, Weiand intake and 750 Quick Fuel carb,Summit water pump........lots of torque in a 2800 lb car
just sold a stock lo/po 69 327 so i can build my 68 327 +.030 ,151 cam, 291 camels 2.02/1.50..Just love these motors 52 csb
got me a 1958 283 block bored and stroked to 327in a light car w turbo 350 it has tri power and proabblyt a per tronix they dont make em like they used to THANK GOODNESS!!! had a 331 030 over 327 in a stock car long ago and it was a good runner they are quick to pick up the revs with the short 3.25 stroke
My boys and I were at the right place at the right time. Don't know the guts but it's a '67 327 that is bored 060 over and bolted to a NV3500 5 speed scoots my son's '54 Chevy pick up just fine.
Just got a 327 freshly rebuilt for my 1967 chevelle. Has forged hyperutectic domed pistons, double humps, headers, a 275 duration cam with 1.6 rockers, and an air gap intake. haven't stomped on it too much cause still letting it break in a bit but it definitely has some good power!. Have another 327 on an engine stand freshly rebuilt short-block, hoping to go with some summit aftermarket vortec heads with a 282 cam .
Boones - '68 up is large journal like a 350, most have cast cranks. Not the largest like a 400. '67 and older is the forged small journal crank. I run a '67 327 in my '54 and it does the job well. The older forged cranks and blocks are better in my opinion. I've shattered less forged cranks versus cast. Happy Holidays Tim
I have another 327 stashed under the bench to build (for the last 35 years) that I've always been waiting for the right car to come along. Not sure if it'll ever happen. 1963 Flint 870 block, 11 to 1 forged TRW's, 1178 crank, 461X heads
