Ok so this is how it all starts. I haven't heard from Dennis in a shit load of time. So after burning the Midnight-Oil at the shop one night I head for home at about 1 A.M. So I get a shower,some chow,a beer, and the lap top and sit down to surf the H.A.M.B. At about 2 A.M. a P-M comes across my screen." Hey Pro ! Wanna build another 6 cylinder ??" So I reply "What in the hell are you doing up at 2 A.M. and Hell Yes I'll Build You Another Engine. So we start exchanging P-Ms and phone calls and we have a good start on the engine build for a Juiced 292 6-banger for Dennis's 58 Apache. Dennis tells me he's yanking a 454 out of his truck to plant a warmed up 292 6-banger in because the 454 "HAS NO SOUL" I'm glad to be back in touch with Dennis as he as already turned me on to some interesting cats !! Big 6 cylinders have a sweet exhaust tone. This is going to be a cool build.

 

Well it's super dirty but ol Dennis has lucked out because under all the grunge is a Steel Forged crankshaft and a set of H-D Connecting Rods !!! >>>>.

 

Anybody else saying that I would call bullshit on, but if he says "it's got no soul" I have to say "amen brother, amen".

 

Looks like I'm not puttin a 6 in my truck now. I've got a stock 350 in it now instead of that stroker and a good small carb. I'm actually kinda digging it and the mileage. That truck of yours, Dennis...is the shit. I used to drive by Jeff's on the way to my shop every day and always got a peep of it.

 

I know a thing or two about this, Buwaaahahhahahaha.

 

Now that's a move in the right direction!

Ok I got all of the grunge off of the cylinder head and it's roached !! Time for some new exhaust seats and a little massaging to the intake valve pockets. Larger valves are in order and a bit of porting on the intake throats !! Smooth up the exhaust ports,broach the valve pockets and drag it over the surfacer !!! >>>>.<center>

Nothing wrong with going back to an engine with more character! 6's are COOL!!!!
