I recently bought a 1928 Ford rolling chassis, only it don't roll. The spoked wheels are frozen to the hub. Can anyone offer some advice on the best way to free them up, so I don't mess anything up trying it the hard way? (hammer, crowbar, etc) Thanks...
1. Remove the lug nuts. 2. If you want to save the wheels or brake drums, don't beat them off with a hammer or pry them off with a crowbar. If you don't, do. 3. Spray the wheel around the hub with PB Blaster off and on for a day or two or three. 4. Tap...that is...tap...the wheel around the rim with a 3-5lb hammer. Tap the wheel in a like manner around the hub. 5. It'll eventually come off if you have the patience, if not, draw back and whang away until it is mangled and flies off.
Drill out the lugs nuts and studs if all else fails, Model a brake stuff is damn near worthless anyway
key point. spray. leave for a few hours. SPRAY. leave for a few hours. SPRAY. leave for a few hours then beat ( and yes heat usually works)
