My pop set a new land speed record at the maxton mile yesterday in his 41 studebaker commander coupe.he went 77 mph in a mile in x0/pro to set a new record. Maybe that's not fast, but yall ain't got no idea how proud i am of that old dude! It was priceless!!! He said we are goin back in oct. Life is good!
Hey Ed! Heck man, you don't know how P R O U D ALL of us Studebakers guys are! Just friggin' A W E S O M E! Please tell your Dad that we're gonna make sure that his accomplishment is being included in our on-going Studebaker racing history archives. We would be honored to include any/all pictures he has in the archives with the details. In fact, mebbe we can get you to give us ALL the details here, at the Racing Studebakers forums? http://racingstudebakers.com/stl-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1753 I love the H.A.M.B., just because of stuff like this! It don't get no better! OH! Hopefully we'll be having the details from the Studebaker competitors who were at the PSMCD this weekend, on the forums too! It sounds like it was ANOTHER successful event!
You didn't mention how old dad is. The rest of us geezers need to give him an extra pat on the back!!!!!!!!!! Good job pop
It don't have a thing to do with the speed, it has to do with the spirit. What a cool story. I will be there in the fall if possible and i will shake his hand.
At 65 I haven't got near the "time in grade" that he does but the smile on his face speaks volumns. Hope he is around to set a few more records. Frank
Please pat him on the back for me. I love it when people continue to pursue their passions like he is. Of course I also like the fact that it has to do with going fast in a car. I'm a mere 58 yrs old and truly hope that I can keep going like he is. Too cool.
Sounds to me like you need to sign him up on the HAMB and espically the Old Fars Group. Congrats to you both on his accomplishment. Getting that basicly stock Studie to go that fast is as easy as one would think.
Man , that is so damn kool ! Congrads ! You have to be so proud of your Dad to do something like that ! Tell your Dad that all of us from the HAMB are very proud of him ! RetroJim
Very cool and congrats on the accomplishment. Any benchmark set by one of the great American independents gets me fired up!
he said he still had more in it!!! And it is completely stock except for 3'' lowering blocks in back.
Sounds like a return trip for the October event to me. I plan on being there with a couple other HAMB Old Farts.
Very COOL ! Congrats . I am trying to get my ornery , 73 year old Hot Rod Harley Father to come to Bonneville next year to root for my 52 Buick . It is a dream of his . This will help . God Speed .
here's a friend of ours from sanannah ga. He runs at maxton in the 130 mph range with blown straight 8
