Here is a old international locally rusting in piece, not to sure if its a wrecker but I guess it kinda fits here.
Figured I'd be in trouble when this thread started. Two hrs's after I saw this post I was out swapping out the dead flathead 6 in MY Ford wrecker. A 52 F6 that has been happily sitting as yard art for the past 5 yr's. Gotta love them old wreckers. Great Thread. Keep em coming.
Here it is as of 9-25-09....Interior in 1-2 weeks...then give to my Dad on Nov 4th for his 77th Birthday...............
Wow ! Looks great I am sure your dad will be thrilled...make sure you do a follow up post for us after he gets it!
Here is a picture I snagged off the internet a few years ago. I wish I knew more about it. It looks like it was made from a Cadillac sedan body and a truck chassis. Pretty classy looking rig, yours will be too from the looks of it!
Got this moving under it's own power today. Ist time in 25 yrs. Freed up the rear controls and powered the winch cable in and out. Now am swapping in a better grill assy and door glass. Next is to attach the sling and see how this works on an old MK 4 Lincoln I've been wanting to reposition for a while.
my contribution. this old wrecker saw service in ponca city okla for most of it's life. now sitting behind the barn.
As a kid I had two or three local tow trucks that I thought were the coolest. Most were home built unlike todays wreckers. It your a lover of tow trucks you have to love this one.lol
i got interested in old wreakers after seeing mater in cars. some cool old ones here. this is my 1/24 scale chevy.
Well this is about as old a tow truck as you can get. Saw this at The Henry Ford in September. Iceman
