Neat, what a fun project for you! I'll keep my eyes open for good submissions and send them your way. Looking forward to seeing it!

  3. The Pamona Greatest Roadster show, 2009 {my first attendance at a car show in over 35 years } inspired this Buick, my first car build ever .

It was the presence of the vintage racers that changed my world . I am a fine art metal and stone sculptor .
The Land Speed cars were sculpture with purpose to me .It was inspiration beyond my own comprehension.
    I am grateful .
    What a great show.

    GNRS Debut????

  8. Ok you want history? Not famous but historical...
This is the Cotton Chopper, it was built around 1952, by members of the Valve Burners of Merced Ca. they raced it all over the Central Valley, it ran many different engines, flathead V-8, Chevy six, hemi, what ever someone had.
It was dug up, litterly, and restored by Tracy Ledford a few years ago.
This is no reproduction, it is the real deal with many of the original parts.
In it's day it was a top notch dragster, it raced against the likes of the Bean Bandits.
I think it would be a great addition to your show as a representive of the primative cars of the begining of drag racing, we have lots of pics of it from the day. Tracy had his Hemi Model A in the GNRS last year so he is familiar with the show. Just say the word...

Hey ol friend, you have a PM

  12. This is going to be soooo cool, Axle is going to let us put the Cotton Chopper in the show, we are planning an awesome display, I think it will bring smiles to the faces of all the old guys, like me, and even most of the younger HAMBers. We are still working out the details, I'll post more later as we get it worked out. and I'll leave the final, final as a surprise, but think a page out of a 1955 Hot Rod mag., geeze I think I wet myself a little...

  13. Axle,

Great idea, I look forward to seeing the display. This could be REALLY cool.

That might just be a good excuse to stash away a few extra bucks for a plane ticket and take a short vacation in Cal.

We're doing our best to get the Mura Bros. Willys Pickup done in time for this show.

  23. AXLE,
The coupe was lost for years and the owner finally got it from a buddy of his. Niether one had any idea what it was untill the recent owner started tearing it down to come to my shop. He seen a pic in the GASSER WARS book and put two and two together. Tons of history, Ill be posting some pics as the build goes.
Heres what we are starting with in its recent, as found, condition (other than it had paint).

Axle this is the Kurtis 1/4 midget i was talking about. The first and last picture are with Jack Lowe the original driver. His brother Dean Lowe's 93 car is on the top of the Kurtis built trailer in the middle picture with the 92 on the bottom. (the 93 car is now in the Justice Brothers Museum)
