Very cool that the building was saved. Be nice to see it around for another 75 years.

Thats cool as hell. I really hate to see so many old land marks bite the bullet and it seems this one will be saved for future generations to see.

I've been trying to buy a little Texaco station from 1927, in Jefferson Texas for years. I saw the owner again this weekend and told him to not forget me if he ever wants to turn it over. Someday he's gonna call. I can just feel it. HAHA.

Thanks for the tip. I have a strange fascination for old gas stations & petroliana and i've never heard of this book.
I like the picture of the old butterfly canopy Phillips 66 station. If you see an old abandoned gas station with this overhang it's a dead giveaway to it's origin.

  23. Thats exactly what me and the wife would love to do someday, but out in the country. I have yet to see where it's going exactly other than in the east village area.

Well, the 26 stations looked like a book I needed, but...HOLY COW!! Lots of copies out there, costing between $1500---nearly $3,000!
The only copy out there under a thou has moisture damage. I'm guessing that means it was found floating in the men's room and smells a bit off...
ANOTHER damn topic that has way too many people with money interested in it!

Alright...my brother (his wife really) owns an old Texaco station built in 1940. On main in Milford , Texas It is all original but it never had a garage. They use it as a storage shed lol. Their house is on the same lot and a motor lodge was on the property but tore down and now a mobile home sits there..

He considers it a burden but something I would be proud of. I want to help him out by repairing and cleaning it. He enjoys motorcycles and hot rods but never has time.

He is 38 and I am 31 and we just met. (long story) I'll try to keep him from tearing it down but the city is always on him. He is not on the internet and I wish he could see how desired these are...?

glad to see it got saved ! i remember reading the original post when it was up in the air on what would become of it ! they have already destroyed too many sites around here which should have been preserved !

  27. Pretty damn cool. But, it looks way modern for 1933 to me.
