A friend scored a '58, I looked @ the motor and was wow'ed by its intake. Prev. owner told him it's an FE, would the valley pan-style intake fit a 390 from a '65 TBird?
The '58 Edsel offered two engines, a 361 ci and a 410 ci. The 410 inch motor had valve covers that said E475, denoting the torque rating. Assuming your buddy has a 410 cube E475, that is a M-E-L motor and a 390 intake will not interchange.
TIM, your back from the dead! I don't know the answer to the question, but I'm happy to see you here.
Edsel engines. 410 CI, a MEL engine, E-475 stamped in the VC's 361 CI, an FE engine, #-400 stamped into the VC's 292 CI, a Y-block engine. No markings on the VC's Then there was a six cylinder exactly like the Fords of the day The E-475 (410 CI) is a MEL engine just like the Mercury 383 and the Lincoln/T-Bird 430. The E-400 (361 CI) is an FE engine just like all Ford FE's (332 through 428) The Y-block 292 is a standard Ford 292
Actaully MEL's weigh about 680, that is similar to a Big Block Chevy, 50 lbs less than a 331 Hemi, 40 lbs less than a 429/460 and 5300 lbs less than a Lycoming radial 36
