Despite some "weather challenges" the Shakedown went on as planned on Friday. We saw over 100 cars at the show... not bad considering we had scattered rain thru much of the day. A wide varity of rides made the trip. The "Oliver" gang treked from Des Moines with a six car caravan complete with vintage camping trailers and a WIDE variety of cars including a suede NSU Prinz! Breeder finally was able to make the show last nite after tending to his daughter who had been feeling under the weather. The swap was filled... we had to use the overflow area across the street. Traffic there was a little light but everyone stayed the course knowing that today (Saturday) should be better. This morning things are pretty quiet. Kevin Fayte got the folks in a good mood with some great rock-a-billy sounds early in the afternoon. Local fav's Andy's Automatics hot country sounds had the dance floor filled before the Twistin' Tarantulas lit up the joint with their own blend of Rock-a-billy, Punk and just plain good old rock-n-roll. Great stuff from every band! This morning we'll have to put up with a little rain... heavy thunderstorms hit us hard overnight but things will start to dry up by 10AM. The schedule for the show TODAY will stay the same. The mini-bike drags well will be run later depending on track conditions. There's still room for more cars and the forecast is for scattered storms... not enough to hinder anyone from htting the road and making the show. there's plenty of "indoor" stuff to do if we do get a pop-up shower. Two of the HUGE Fairbanks-Morse engines will get fired up today... they shake the ground when running and drew a BIG crowd when the boys hit the switch yesterday afternoon. The blacksmith will be back makin' stuff and the Unionville Saloon will also be open... quite a sight to see. Bob and Arlo from Wisconsin Hot Rod Rdaio will be on hand as will the gal from Old School Rods and Car Culture DeLuxe. I've been told that the show WILL get covergage in at least one of their mags so bring your ride and get some ink in a national publication. Today's band line-up includes a repeat performance by the Tarantula's and Chicago's Wraybands plus the Honky Tonk Twisters and Knuckel Drager at 9PM. The HAMB meet and greet will be at the Unionville Saloon (on the grounds) at 2PM. Great Stuff... come on up!!!!
Was there yesterday and will be heading back a little later this morning. Great show and grounds. You got a winner there, so head on over there guys and gals.
