I don't know for sure, I never thought to ask, but being that the only car my parents probably had at the time was a basically new green 70 1/2 Z/28 and not one of those ugly ass RS's, as my dad would say, with a Tarantula intake, Hurst T handle, (he still has the factory knob in the packaging that the T handle came in) a scattershield and big ass slotted wheels all the way around. Heck, now that I think about it, I could've even been conceived in it for all I know. My dad still reminds me of how he bought the car new and how it was the only car he really ever took good care of and that the only reason he sold it was because they had us kids. Also, that when he saw it later, The kid that bought it had hacked up the fender lips and cut a hole in the hood. Sorry for dragging on, but if you lived in Arizona in the 70's and this car sounds familiar, I'd be curious to hear whether it may still be around.

I found a picture of it from a family get together in the early 70's. I can just picture pull top Coors cans and the Stones playing in the background.

  5. 34 chevy, 292 jimmy, louvered, 5 carbs. 1956-concieved in it, taken to hospital in it and brought home in it. Mom say's Dad got in a race on the way to hospital while she was spilling me out. I guess I was doomed from then on. Here she is PG with second son...natural born criminal that one was and still is.

I came home in my Dad's 1947 Cadillac Limo! It had a little age on it in 1958. LOL My Mom has a picture of it. Dad says he sold it a couple years later for $100 because it was starting to show a little rust around the fender weltings........

    ...except a lot whiter

The kids seats in the back for my sister and I later on were two plastic tube lawn chairs. My dad traded it when I was about 10 for a handfull of WW2 German ceremonial daggers, and got a call from the city a few years later to come pick it up as it had been left at the side of the road, and was apparently still in his name, he said no thanks.

In 78 I came home in a 67 Mustang coupe with custom maroon paint, black interior and a set of 78 Ranchero magnum 500's. My dad sold the car in the mid 80's to my uncle then bought it back off him in the mid 90's. He sold it again in 2004 when I was driving over tractor trailer cross country. I would love to find it and buy it back.

My grandfather still has the 39 Tudor my dad and my uncle came home in, in 56 and 58. It was also the car they took on their honey moon in 54. I hope to get it road worthy again someday.

August 1948 in a 1929 Chev 4 door sedan. Cars stayed on the roads a lot longer over here in Australia, mum was still driving the Chev in 1959 when dad died. Then she traded it in on a 1938 Willys sedan as it was 'modern' and easier for her to drive with 4 kids in it and not a seat belt to be seen.

here's me 'helpin' daddy work on the Chev.

    Cheers, Glen.

I don't know whether I rode home in the 67 Chevelle 4 door or the 70 Delta 2 door, I was born about the time they were ditching the Chevy for the Olds, I'll have to look into it. I do know for a fact that 20 months later my younger brother was born IN THE FRONT SEAT of the 70 Delta 2 door on the way to the hospital. It had a 455, dad said he was going well over 100mph when he got stopped.

My first ride was in a 48 Pontiac Stream8liner , the only new car my father ever bought. Drove the car until 1963, probably had over 350k miles on it and he finally gave it up because the engine wore out to the point where it had such weak compression it wouldnt pull itself up a hill.

Note the 56 Olds wheelcovers, I was told the 48 caps and trim rings continually came off the car when going down the road.

This is the car, I am the one holding the big teddy bear.
