  5. I was going to ask if this was your plan. A rounded surround with that grill will look killer!

Well, that pretty much makes my day....thats really my goal with this car, I'm trying to put as much original, vintage stuff on it as possible and stay away from repro stuff...

as an example, the front suspension has original speed shop dropped spindles and an original Hurst dropped center link kit...Original 1959 Fenton rippled lake pipes, and tons more stuff like that...........still a few things i'd love to find.....

It's got all those parts... but it just has this look to it that most customs now dont have. I can't put my finger on it. If I saw that at a show, I'd swear up and down that it's an old custom. You've clearly done some homework, and it shows.

The shape of the edsel grill works with the shape of the headlights way more than the old grill did, in my humble opinion.

Looks like Sam Barris all the way! Most people are scared to go against the grain because there afraid of the out come! Man your car is so right it looks like you tore it out of one of those Restyle your car magazines from the 50's!

Funny you should ask Bill. I had planned to post this update tonight, so thanks for the segue...

I stared at the front end for a while and realized that many of you were right, the opening could stand some massaging to better fit the grille...so here's what I did..I thought the hood hugged the grille nicely, so i only rounded the very ends down a little, and since the lower part was pretty flat across, thats where the more significant work was done...huge improvement, i think......

Oh, and I'm pretty sure Jim has beaten me down pretty severely already, even though he dosen't have much shoebox left there... :D

interesting. but now you have some fill work to do around the grill to make it match the body work around the bumpers.
