Heres the progress threads up to now. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=244660 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=258632 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=345832 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=330310 Got the chassis back from the painter and now have it reassembled. Had a little time till the body was ready so made up a mock firewall to make sure the brakes and clutch were all going to work and would have liked to start it and run it a bit with the 4x2 set-up but the 4 holley 94's weren't ready yet, so took the chassis out to my friends house (Tom) who's doing all the body and paint work last night and with the help of Hawgrod and a couple other guys we set the body back on the chassis, got all the rubber mounts in place and now have it bolted back down. Tom is going to hang the deck lid, doors and rear fenders for now, then after it's running we'll put the front clip on at my place. heres a few pic's of the chassis, and body shell along with the steering wheel and the louverd hood resting safely in my basement. Dang, u suck Gary. LOL Looks like there will be another 40 (besides Greezys) that I will lust after. It is lookin real good. I am totally diggin all of it.
Hey Gary - is that your oil filter relocated onto the passenger side frame rail? If so, where did you place the oil cooler (assuming you used one)? I'm building a 40 also, and I'm sure I'll need an oil cooler w/ a filter relocation - I like your idea. Also, what is the red line running down the same frame rail - is that battery cable? Thanks for the help - your car looks a lot better black than it did yellow, its very sharp looking.
Thanks, I like it black too. The filter your talking about is a fuel filter and the red line is the battery cable. The oil filter is still in the stock location and is a tight squeeze to get it off and pass the exhaust pipe. Gary
Really? I think those Impala wheels rule.. especially for this type/era of car. Looks like all of the body work turned out really nice, Gary! Mmmm, black 'n' shiny. I'll get ahold of you soon and come over to check it out. Wanna race?? Malcolm
Black and shiny.......... yea thats gonna take some gettin used to. Good to see you made it back. Hope the new truck is all good. Gary
Gary, Thanks for the update, That Sucker is gonna look Sweet. I likey the white firewall also. Dan, P.S. the '55 should be done this week.
