Does anyone remember a tech post that described how to remove the long tail housing and shorten a cad/lasalle transmission and then use a ford transmission mount. It was a scanned article from an early hot rod magazine. Jog anyone's memory? Thanks.
pretty simple stuff as a matter of fact, I think you pretty much summed it up I'll try to find the one magazine article I have but it doesn't have a lot of technical info in the meen time here is snapshot of a couple I've picked up all ready converted
here's the article, what there is of it.. converting the '37 top shift, the side shift will of course be pretty much the same
i was reading that magazine yesterday!, anyhow how about do this change to a closed driveline, and use the rear end of an early flathead truck tranny with opendrive... i have 2-3 or something long tailshaft lasalle trannys (and 2 1950 olds ones also ..) and an truck tranny laying around in the garage i figured i was going to test to use the opendrive part of thatone on one of the trannys...
There is a better article with dimensions for the cuts on Ford part to make it fit the cad rear bearing properly...the one shown relies more on Permatex than fit there. I think I've sent it out to a number of people on here...no scanner.
