Would a mildly built 292 Y block be able to handle this much CFM? Thanks for ALL instructive replies!
Should not be a problem; cfm ratings varied between 145 - 185, so at the most you are pulling 555 cfm when all 3 kick in......
hell yeah it'll take it.. once you solve the prominent cooling and oiling isues with the y's they'll take just about anything you can throw at 'em... here's some links with really in depth info on y building.. http://www.streetrodderweb.com/tech/0809sr_vintage_engines_fomoco_y_blocks/index.html http://www.webrodder.com/article.php?AID=385&SID=9 http://www.ford-y-block.com/yblockpage.htm http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/tipstricks/74739/index.html was thinking about going with a triple duece for my 292 but decided on a factory T-Bird four-barrel manifold..
There's plenty of guy's runnin' 3 94's on mild 239 flatties... Considerin' there are dual quad Y-block intakes floating around, I'd say you're OK running a tri-fecta of 'em... On my soon-to-be blown 255 flatty, I'm either gonna run a pair of them or a pair of Rochester 2G's. I've gone from liking Y's to loving them, the guy that's helping me repair my Galaxie has a '56 bird with a 312. Gorgeous engines, if I wasn't so far into my 4-71 and my flatty, I would absolutely be trying to find a Y-block for my Model-A.
