Customs The art of the mild custom

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by G V Gordon, May 4, 2009.

  1. Not to start a shit storm, but doesn't a chop make it a full not a mild custom?

I always considered a chopped car a "full" custom. I believe that is the criteria the shows always used. Chopped, sectioned got you into full custom territory.

I agree with your definition also.

I think the Chopped Olds is deceiving because it is what I consider the new type of full custom. It is chopped, which puts it in the radical custom class, but the rest of the car is almost stock like a very mild custom.
There is no radical changing of the front grille, bumper, side trim, etc. So at first glance it looks like a mild custom.

My personal favorite type of car. Fun, inexpensive, jaw-dropping when done right, and USABLE.

Here are some of my favorites. The white DeSoto and black Chrysler are just photoshops. For now. :)

Your Buick reminded me of this well known mild custom.

    Awesome thread!!

Not having the imagination or skills to build a wild custom, I'm always drawn heavy to the mild customs...I love the digging to see the subtle things thats in them all!

  16. I have loved this one from the very first moment that I saw it. It was in a magazine, (Rod & Custom I think) and is perfect in every way to me.

    love all those cars

  27. Yes there is a whole photo album, Ziggy has pictures of the build and when it was finished in a green basecoat. There are plenty of pictures of this car while it was getting all Ziggys ideas put into a reality at Bruns' Kustom City. I am trying to get him to put these on a disc so I can put them here on the Hamb. Dont worry there are plenty of people who had no idea about this car but that is all going to change soon. I will put the picture of Jimmy shaking Ziggys hand while he is buying the car,in the background sits Jimmy's fastback chevy in Burbank,Ca.

  28. Billy's old 55 Pontiac. I was already a 55/56 diehard when I first saw his car but something about his car and something about watching it transform over the years drew me in more and more. To this day I would give anything to own this car...
    More pics found here...
