I picked this '51 up last spring. Its nicer to drive than most new cars. :DThe 303 Rocket has got plenty of power even with only a 2 bbl carb. The Hydro is the best shifting auto trans I've driven. Was going to make a mild custom and put some hot rod goodies on the 303. :cool:But the funds are short. :(:(Check it out in the classifieds.

This is a little too late for this forum probably, but I picked up this 442 for $1k in 1973, and had it painted for $400 at a custom painter in Portland, Oregon.

    Anyone remember "The Beard"

It was a bunch of painters, not just one.

They had Union people doing the body work and primer, and then the painters would go wild and do whatever they wanted. You couldn't tell them what you wanted, and you had to take what they produced. Some of it was a little too wild, but hey, it only lasted two years anyway until the clear yellowed and cracked.

I rebuilt the 400 cu in engine twice. The first time the valves floated and caused a mess, the second time I broke a rod and caused a mess. The car ended-up as a circle-track racer after I drove it into a 4" parking post at 40 MPH and pretty much demolished it.

I had to sell it when my tickets and insurance costs exceeded my monthly pay...

Never paint a car red in Copland!

  7. Not mine, but I need a picture - or three - of a fire engine red 50 Olds coupe for a book cover.

A head-on or slightly off the head-on view, but not all the way to three-quarter.
Chrome wheels preferred if the wheels show in the pic.
    Painted wheels ok.
    No mags.

Yep, bought "Rusty Olds" in March and brought him home from Philly in May. He's going up for sale soon though.

that Olds mill for the Henry J, that's something else

Denise your dad has great taste, the 50 88's & the 56 88

just got mine 56 Olds 88 back from Montana

here's a shot of the 56 Olds 88 at the Flying J in Beach North Dakota

it needs some dinging & a back glass

it has rust free floor's, not bad for a car sitting on the range for over 30 years
