Have a 1963 Long Bed with a 283, thinking of swapping it out for a 350 and a turbo 400!

Mine is going on air soon. I cant wait. Any recommendations for the front end? I have the bracket kit coming with the set-up but I could use some technical advice if any of you have been down this road already.

    Hey,

I know that truck.. It's right down the street. I see it all the time.:)

Here are a couple of mine last week.

What I have done so far..
Switched it all to 5 lug
    Step notched, bagged all around
    power steering
    disk breaks
    headers
    cam - lifters
    new interior
    all new chrome
    going to paint next week.

Nice one mate, I've seen yours around too! I'm assuming you've stripped the paint since the last time I saw it? Just fitted a 62 GMC grill on mine and now figuring out what bumper to stick on it.

Give me a shout next time you're passing.

KnuckleHead, your buddies truck is sweet. What bumper did he use on the front?

Mine just got a minor facelift.

The truck is a '63 Chevy. The hood is '61 Chevy, the grill is '60 GMC (although they were all the same) from a 1 ton. I had to cut off the mounting plates and replace them with 1/2 ton plates to get it to mount the the grill support. I still haven't decided what to do about the bar under the grill that used to have the GMC letters. I'll either add a chrome bar from a car that fits and looks cool or cut it off. Or maybe something else, I don't know.

  14. Wow, you made it uglier...in a good way....I like it.:D
I'd go with a chrome floating bar, aluminum nostril inserts and a chrome bumper.

  15. I've got a question for all you 60ish truck guys, I wondering if a '87 tilt steering column will mount up on the 64 with out having to change the ps pump, looks like it will, Has anyone done this before and any tips or troubles?

My new project, got her running good this winter, 283 mild cam four barrel, headers. Don't nock my rims they were on it when I bought it. I'm trying to sell them and then going with steeles and wide whites and dropping her in to the weeds.

Just picked this up. Gonna be my daily. It's a 1 owner, 58,000 mi. truck. I can't stand the color so I'm paintin' it as soon as I can get the time and money to do it.

  25. C/Gass55,
What wheels are those on your truck?
Do you have a closeup pic?

    Hey Terd,

Kudos to you for the throwback changes on your truck. That grille opening is just screaming for a big (semi truck size) chrome open end wrench.

And for the sake of those North Carolina opposums move that rebel flag license plate up, gives them and your license plate a fighting chance. :)

    C/Gas55,

Sweet truck. IMHO For a driver that color might grow on you. My daily is similar to that same color, and it never looks dirty! Just drive the wheels off of it and it always looks good.

Less detailing on the daily driver = more time for the projects. :D

  30. Very Cool. If I could find a set of those I would change my mind about the need for 5-lug conversion. Let me know if you want to sell them.
X2 about the color, with the right stance your truck will look awesome as is! Don't paint it.
    B.
