I filled the torque converter and put the amount of fluid recommended before starting the car. Had more fluid ready and began to try to get enough in the tranny to come up on the dipstick. After putting what I thought was more than enough and still nothing in the dipstick, I shut off the car and a LOT of the fluid I just put in was pushed out the dipstick tube and some out the kickdown cable. Do I have too much in? Are there air pockets? What did I do wrong? Thanks Jim
Sounds like the converter isnt all the way into the pump drive. or maybe wrong converter. just a guess though. What kinda trans is it?
OOPS Sorry, 200r4 Doesn't mean it's right but I got the converter with the tranny from Advance. It's a rebuilt Jim
what kind of car?? slide tranny back and reseat the converter..hopefully the pump is not toast and end of converter is not chewed.
If I unbolt the flexplate I can spin the converter freely with the tranny bolted to the motor. Any other ideas. j
I agree something wrong with the rebuild or your vent is plugged! If you can blow air in the vent you may as well pull it out and get a different one. My thoughts for the moment!
I hope not, I've had the tranny for more than a year now. Just trying it now! Thanks for all your help though. j
Another thought: You have a cooler on the thing? Is it plugged up? Were the cooler lines filled pre-fire? Where was the level after you shut it down? Still all the way up the dipstick?
I GOT IT The dipstick tube I ordered from NAPA was too long. My wife picked it up so I can blame it on her right! Just shortened the tube to the correct length and all is well. Thanks for all the input and help. I was pretty worried for a while Jim
