Well, I'm still anxiously waiting for my back hoops from Ray at H&L Metals. I figured while I'm waiting I'd bolt the trans to the block and get the rear end aligned and tacked to it's mounts. I had to do some serious grinding to the left side of the bell to get it to fit the frame right but once I had it in the frame thoughts of tacking the axle faded. I mocked her up instead. She's starting to look like something.
Oh, for the record Gary Cagle ran an automatic in his fuel roadster so I don't want any crap about mine! ;-)
Hmmmm, gunna be a goody!!!( Interesting front suspension too.) Piss on anyone that doesn't agree with your transmission choice, tell 'em to build they're own. Keep us updated, and wish you the best!
Ladies and genteelmen! May i present the worlds fastest mennonite and fellow vagabond kerry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What? You couldn't find a bigger motor to put in there? That rail looks good man, can't wait to see it burning the hides off down the strip.
HAHA!!! Awesome my brother! What is your plan for the exhaust zoomies? gonna be able to snake around that diagonal?
Gary Cagle ran an automatic? Back when I ran him, he was direct drive.......I think. Hey "Fuelroadster", what say you on this?
Kerry- Cool beans man! You've got yourself a real dragster there. Super nice! Been watching your posts about this with lots of envy. Is there a fire-up planned for Jay's event this year?
T-man - You wrote "May i present the worlds fastest mennonite". That may be the case for sure when Kerry gets that digger over to the HAMB drags, but it reminded me of a story I heard from an old friend who grew up in Western Kansas back in the day (mid sixties). He had a Mennonite pal who's dad had bought him a brand new school car (since the "local" school was many miles away). Being of a conservative nature, the old man specified it must appear as plain as possible - no flashy colors or trim. The kid was only too happy to order a black, two-door sedan, with dog-dish hubcaps and all. The motor was another thing - and since dad had no interest (or clue about) what went on there. The chosen option (bet you saw this comnig) was a triple-deuce 409. That, combined with a 4-speed and a dealer-installed high-gear rearend, resulted in some VERY high speeds being recorded across the endless miles of Kansas flatland. I don't remember the numbers bragged about - doubtless a bit inflated anyway - but the only real limitation was the tires of the time. Thanks for allowing me a short trip down memory lane - back to our regular programming.
Thanks for the kind words guys. Lazy White Boy, the front suspension is exactly what Dragmaster offered in their kits back in the day. Jay, the heads hang out over te frame plenty far for the exhaust. Gonna be weedburners instead of zoomies. 61Cad, wheelbase is a touch over 120". Beep, I've got a 1965 engines book put out by Peterson that has a three page description of Cagles setup. Talks about a 3000 rpm stall converter in his B&M setup. I'm sure he ran several setups over time looking for more performance.
