Damn I hate talented people. Its really tough being old, dumb and not have any talent. Guess I'll just have to win another lottery. Cars look great.

I got the front of the fender patched. I still have to do some work on the inner brace before I can put it back in place.

Could you post a pic of the Bulls eye pick?? I don't think they would be hard to make....Every advertisement you see for them they always cover up the hinge part so you cant copy it....

Terrific work on saving those rear fenders.
Crap, that one fender was rough to the point that a lot of us would have walked right past it without stopping if we saw it at a swap meet (too tough to save).

Awesome work. I'm digging that fixture for holding the fender, very cool.

Today I got working on patching the bead on this fender. I got the piece made, and tomorrow i'll weld it in and finish it out.

That is the same fender? I am shocked, amazed. Wow. I have a long way to go. Thanks for showing us how it's done!

I got the fender finished up this morning. It took some time last night making practice pieces for the shape of the bead. But once I was able to reproduce the same radius and overall shape it turned out nice.

Now its on to the doors.

There is a big dent in the drivers door. There isn't any access from the inside so the only good move is to remove the inner panel. With this all open I can completely metal finish the outer skin.

How long have you been metal working?
Have you ever screwed anything up?

    Can't wait for more.....

Ive been metalworking for about 3 years now.

And I cant say I've screwed anything up, but I have been fixing something and realize that I should have done something before. But it would have just makes things a little easier to finish :)

Great work, as usual!! I have some good dents in my 3 window doors. That looks like a great way to really finish them properly.
Any updates on some of your previous projects?

Unfortunately my other projects are with paying customers. And all of them have been having a hard time getting more money to continue. Kind of a crazy time right now. Thats why I started this Vicky build cause it will allow me to make some money while my customers get back on their feet.

This morning I made the patch for the bottom of the door. I'm lucky this door didn't need the patch to go the whole way across. I made this patch just the right size so that I have access to the whole weld, that way I can metal finish it.

Ive been working on the doors for the past few days. I got the drivers door all patched, and I started on the passenger door today.

I plan on buying the door x-braces that Walden Speed Shop sells. I need to install them before I can put the inner panels back in place. This brace really improves the strength of the door overall. Especially where it is a suicide if the door accidentally opens too far the hinges bend the inner door. This brace adds one more connection point to the hinges to support them.

You can see in the last picture of Walden's 3 window what the x-brace is.

I got the patch completely welded, now I can metal finish the door skin.

I also started working out the dents on the passenger side front fender.

Down the road I plan on teaching metal shaping and metal finishing classes. It's something that is best learned hands on.
