Bought a stripped '40 merc moredoor to strip brake stuff from. The body is RUFF but the doors are almost decent. The top looks like it took mortarfire. Since there is NO floor perhaps it could be draped over a later chassis and be better than a rat rod. Does anyone have pics of a '39-'40 Ford or Merc with a Carson top and really in the weeds?
Here's one from riksters site , a plethora of all things custom in pictures http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/
Ya, there's one around here if memory serves me. I believe its somewhere around a '39 Ford 4dr. thats hardtopped. Not sure if it was a Carson or not, nor do I have any pics. But they do exsist! I'm sure someone knows the car I speak of. Owned by a really cool older guy. Used to be suede black, but recently he sprayed it maroon and black.
Brewsir built this one frm a four door. He sold it before he could finish it. Gene Winfield customs did the finishing work and paited it with one of his trademark ade paintjobs...
There was a cool styled one at the Good Guys show in Rhinebeck this past year. If anyone had a picture that would be awesome.
Here's some pix of my dads 40 merc 4 door convertible its not a taildragger but I think it looks good. Might give you a little inspiration
Ford or Merc doesn't matter,I'm looking for ideas and concepts. I don't want to invent the wheel, just get ideas from the guys rounded off the corners.
Another cool removable hardtop is on the Ohanesian '40 Mercury, it's made from Chrysler and Buick parts I believe.
