Thanks! Yeah she was going to use it for her band. It's funny, the transmission/clutch/valve cover/rocker arms are all still in it. Engine mysteriously disappeared. I think for the time being we're going to clean it up and drive it.
That thing is "couch royalty" cool! As my kids are saying these days. One of my moms brothers had one of those things for years. A basic Ford chassis and a body built by "Pacific car and foundry" in '64. He called it his "Kenworth" van. Who built the bod on yours?
Hell, if you're going to put a cooler in the back, it should be a beer truck. I tried to get a Chevy a little earlier than that for storage a few years ago, but couldn't figure out a good way to move it - it was all steel - didn't think of using a dolly for it.
Funny, we paid $500 for it, sold it for $1200 on ebay, if I remember correctly. The guy we bought it from left a bunch of junk in the back, including a full inboard/outboard Mercury straight 6 (GMC) We sold that for 400 on ebay!! What motor are you going to run? It had a straight six when we sold it. Joe
I'm gonna get flack for this but.....(breath)....SBC. I've already got a Hemi and Caddy for the model A's and I'd really like to drop an inexpensive, reliable mill that I can dress up in period style. I'd also like to be able to get parts anywhere for it. I've never had a Small Block before in any of my cars, I kinda just want one...
Haha and guys, I'm not gonna chop it, Although I like the idea. I need the room in it for the future, and that's all I'm gonna say...
Can't believe you got that thing on that dinky little dolly!! It looks hilarious on there. You keeping it at the shop? Cool score, brah...
Dreddy, It's a '55, or at least has a '55 grille in it. Look at the rating plate....the fourth character of the VIN will tell the year. Something like P2D5xxxxxx. Casey, that picture you posted of the bobblehead on the ice cream truck is the scariest frickin' thing I've seen on the H.A.M.B. this year!
Super score, I have never seen a Ford that year of that type vehicle. Real sweet, should make for a fun useful ride. Good luck with it!!~Sololobo~
Yep. It's sittin out front right now, I'm gonna try and drag it iniside before this weekend if ya know what I mean... VIN doesn't look like that but there is a part of the tag that reads DATE: 06 C
Are you looking at a body makers' plate? The Ford rating plates are pretty similar to what I gave ya....should be on the right side dash panel on a parcel delivery if I recall correctly...with the oval Ford script at the bottom. A couple of things though: 1) It should be the fifth digit, not the fourth...teach me to type that early in the morning. The VIN will start with the series, so either P35, P50, or P60 (there are also derivatives of P36, P51, & P61 for what that's worth); fourth digit is the engine, so the six cyl. is "D"; fifth digit is the year, so 5 or 6; sixth digit is the assembly plant; after that is the consecutive unit number. A typical parcel VIN would be P35D5L123456. 2) That same '55 Vee-style grille was also used on the '56 parcel deliveries (even though all the other trucks had a new grille for '56). Edit...I found a bad picture of one with what appears to be a '56 grille...so I'm not gonna swear either way..
I can see it now, Paul will paint "Ice Cream" on the side and pull up to every girl he sees on the road asking, "Want some Ice Cream Little Girl?"
Man, I would creep myself out! Plus Cammie would Kill me! Homespun, VIN starts with P40J8..... so it's a '58?
wait until you are my age, when I pull that kind of stunt, the girls look at me and just shake their heads and say "look at that old fool, at least he is harmless" The redhead usually says, "at least he is leaving me alone" there are some advantages to getting old I may not be as good as I once was, but I am as good as I ever was, once.
