You want to put dropped spindles on your trifive chevy but still have drumbrakes?? NO- go to next tread YES- scroll down and I will show you how I did... The only dropped spindles without casted caliperbracket avaible (that I have found) is: http://www.heidts.com/index.cfm/pag...tegory_id=105/home_id=70/mode=prod/prd132.htm To use drumbrakes on these spindles you have to make new hubs and new shealds with an extra bracket to support the wheelcylinders. And use Caprice wheelbearings. First I measured, calculated and made drawings. Then i started to make new hubs in a CNC lathe Drilled out the rivets from the drums. (discovered that front and rear drums are the same..) Here you can see the difference between old and new hub.. had to offset 10mm to get clearence drum to spindle. The new hubs will have rollerbearings instead of original ballbearings. Checking clearence.. I couldn´t have the wheelcyl straight up like is original mounted. So I put everything in a 30 degree angle. Fabricating a bracket to hold wheelcyl. Some of the parts so far.. norice that I have the start of new sheilds!
Sandblasted the old brakeshields.. Cutted with plasmacutter, just want to reuse the outer edge. welded the edges to the new shields. and made new nuts to bolt the wheelcyl. Then some paint and assembling.. Sorry I didn´t take more pics, after this I just mounted everything on the car.. -
Better a late answer then never.. No It´s a Takisawa TMM200 twin spindles twin turrets (japanese crap!) 6.90/15"
Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I definitely like the way that looks. If I was to lower mine via cutting the coils only (say 2 inches), does that really affect the camber, or is negligible - something that can easily be adjusted back into alignment?
