Here's a few pics of the latest build outta the FunnyCar Farm. A soon to be injected 427 riding on roller coaster Firestone Drag Slicks. Cut, slice grind, weld! This one, will hopefully be done in time for 2009 SEMA. But, its a long road ahead: Theres a ton of pictures that document. Check in from time to time and watch the progression. Maybe it'll light the fire for someone to break out the Sawzall! http://public.fotki.com/bowtie0069/shop-projects-1/altered-wheelbase-6/
I dont mean to alarm you or seem critical, but I think the body shop forgot to measure when they installed your wheel wells? Dont feel bad, I have a very keen eye for this stuff! Seriously, I am completely jealous. I would LOVE to do this with a mid 60s Ford! Unfortunately, Im all outta space, cash and excuses to drag more cars home!
Looks like it's well on the way to a sick ride. You know I can't wait to see it done. Dale you da man! Nova Gasser's & Funny car pics http://public.fotki.com/1badnov/
The fact that this one is a rust-free, unhit original car leaves me at a complete loss of curse words!! So far, its been great to work on, much different than what rust buckets I usually get my hands on!
Texas girls just seem "nicer"!!! So, they're always welcome. Problem is there are not too many of 'em in SoCal!
Dale.... wish I could have given you my '65 hdtp to chop up and taken that off your hands. Mines not bad, as it was from AL and spent most of it's life in the southeast, but that car looks CLEAN! You SoCal guys don't know how good you have it!
sick, just sick one day I will build a straight axle'd gasser style car........altered wheel base are way cool, just dont know if I could ever pull off that type of fab work....in a timely manner.
The saga continues! This has been the latest: I"ve been given the tall order of using a stock fuel tank and filler, which means no aftermarket framerails. So, in the spirit of doing more with less, its now about shoving a steamroller through a gopher hole. Time to make a gentle, yet strong notch in the rear portion of the framerail. It seems the only way to get my thumbs width clearance all the way around. And, the use of the stock wheel tubs. Thats all together yet another issue....
Looks great!! I have an altered wheelbase funny under construction myself. It is a blown '65 Tempest. rear wheelbase moved up 8" and front moved up 5", fenders have relocated wheel openings and are stretched as well. altered wheelbase cars just plain rock. Very glad to see someone else putting one together! More pics and info on my Tempest on my site if anyone is interested. Good luck with yours and thanks for posting the pics! How far forward did you move the wheels front and rear? We're getting ready to start cutting on my brothers 63 sedan.
Your Nova looks great... Fires me up to build another one... This is a pair that we did two years ago and had a blast doing them both.... I'm ready to build another one.
It's definitely an "itch" that needs to be scratched on occasion!! I"m working on a deal for a Comet Caliente to be the next one to go under the knife.
Here's one I let get away, it had no history, we built it but I used a lot of the stuff off of an old original gasser that was all hacked up that I bought from an ad in our local trader. we used the one peice glass front, the Bill Thomas front axle assembly, and a few more things
Today, was another "nervous" point. Measuring for the new Currie nine -inch. I 'f' this up, and I eat it. Norm Abrams from This Old House says measure twice, cut once. I think I measured it about fifty times!!!!
