I was listening to a local Oldies Station this morning KEARTH 101 and they were talking about the Ultimate Rock & Roll Car. Here are some of the things people were saying..

    61 Impala Bubbletop
    32 Ford
    Ford Cobra
    1967 Camaro
    Ford Mustang
    1950 Merc

    What Are your thoughts?

I am thinking the 1932 Ford Coupe of the Beach Boys Cover!

  11. Yeah, but would you rather have Commander Cody's 8 cylinder Lincoln motor or Charlie Ryan's original 12?

  13. Allen Collins (of Skynyrd fame) had a '32 Plymouth coupe that they recorded getting rubber in several gears for a song on the second Henry Paul Band album (Feel The Heat)... that's more rock n roll to me, you hear the car in the song. (Henry Paul was a founding member of The Outlaws).

I recognize it's importance and place in history and it has a lot of styling cues I really dig, but overall that has to be one of the ugliest 32's ever built.

"Rocket 88" by Jackie Brenston (fronting Ike Turner's band) is widely recognized by many rock n' roll historians as the 1st rock n' roll song.
the Rocket 88 is widely recognized as the 1st muscle car.
    so i'm going to say

    Rocket 88
    Oldsmobile

Any cool car that was in a song back then. If not, it shouldn't be a candidate. So... Hot Rod Lincoln is my favorite. But I have NO idea what one looks like. Do you? My 409 would be the other toss-up winner. Gary

Here's the popcorn, now step a side please ;)

First, what do we consider "Rock 'n' Roll"?
I *hope* we're talking about traditional Rock'n'Roll here, and not the Beattle-like crap from the mid-'60s.

IMO, the ultimate Rock'n'Roll-car has got to be a late '50s car, preferrably between '57 and '60.
Anything much newer just isn't right. Anything older, well only if it's 'rodded or customized in the late '50s style.

My list of ultimate Rock 'n' Roll cars; Almost any fullsize car from '57/'58...
