Today was the annual Geezer Drags at Mid-America Motorplex (http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/2006/rt_default.asp), about 20 miles south of Omaha. This was the second year for this event and it far exceeded my expectations.

It has been rainy and cool around here lately and the drags were actually supposed to start yesterday, but were cancelled. Today it was windy, cloudy, and cool, but the turn-out was great!

I'll let the photos and videos do the talking - Enjoy!

What is that track like? Driven by many times, always curious, 1/8th right?

This Fairlane is a rare 427 R-code car (so I am told), supposedly 1 of 11 made

This '62 (?) Pontiac is owned by Herb Patton. I actually worked for him part-time while I was in college. He even owned my Galaxie at one point in time.

It is a factory Super Duty 421 light weight car with the aluminum rad. support, inner fenders, and bumpers/fenders, as well (I think).

Very cool car, and nice, well kept, mostly original.

It even has 360 deg. headers - sure sounds different!

The South Omaha Boys brought out their recently completed Bonneville car. They blew the engine at B'ville, but dropped a spare in and drag raced.

This rail has some history to it, also. It's been around since the '60s and originally ran a 392 hemi.

I'm honestly not sure if either of those black Willys ran - they were parked in the same spot all day...
Oh, and I see there is a missing lugnut! :)

The black willy's coupe had no floor boards, firewall, or drive shaft. Work in progress?

    Nick, thanks for sharing those.

Gotta love old Pontiacs, and that '64 Dodge is just like I remember them, painted rear wheel with some form of 5 spoke on the front.

    NICE!

  29. Thanks for the extended post with great photos and dynamite video. What a treat to see some of my old buddies from my days in Huskerland. What's wrong with a guy bringing out an unfinished car with real patina on Halibrand mag wheels? Ya think it's better to leave it in the corn crib for another 25 years?

I often wonder why some folks put such dumb posts on the HAMB...they must have nothing else to do with their time than to waste ours.

Dammit! It looks like I missed out on a great time. It was kinda cold and windy all day yesterday. I bet watching those diggers burn down the track made you forget all about the crappy weather.

I need to make it down there one of these days for an event and hook up with you guys.
