This doesn't look good, especially for those in Galveston or Houston. Forecasters are calling Ike a Category 2 hurricane, predicting 105-mph winds, gusting to 125. Dave http://www.roadsters.com/

You guys be safe and evacuate.. This storm is the real deal, the winds might not be that crazy, but the storm surge is MASSIVE, and will do major damage. Persons not heeding evacuation orders in single-family one- or two-story homes will face certain death, the National Weather Service said in a local bulletin. Many residences of average construction directly on the coast will be destroyed. Dr Jeff Masters blog on www.weatherunderground.com is a great resource for following storms.
Ike is a strange storm. Has winds of a cat 2 right now but surge of a 4or5. Not going to be good on the coast. I'm about 80-90 miles inland on the dirty side. They are forecasting 85-100 mph. It'll get most of the older homes if it happens. I wired my house and both my neighbors for generators. got some old folks next to me and they won't budge. I really wish they would have left. Time to hunker down I guess. Looks like the storm will travel up I-45 all the way to Kansas. So everyone pay attention. Later TP
We are in San Antonio at the moment...waiting to see what happens...thank goodness we had friends who gave a shit here in Texas ! Ace
Been thinking about you and Kali, Johnny. Mother Nature seems pretty pissed off. Here's the Fox News live raw video feed: http://www.foxnews.com/video2/live.html?chanId=3 Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
You've got friends "who gave a shit" here in Maryland too buddy...... Thanks for letting us know that you're OK. Now I can focus my prayers on your home!
Good to see all our florida friends posting on here figures as soon as soon as we move to Houston we get one lol
Damn 15-20 foot surge is what gonna screw everyone. The wind and the rain won't be all that damn bad.................it's supposed to be wet and breezy in Dallas, and will screw me hitting the swap meet in Arlington (maybe). You folks down south and east, hang onto your shit.
They said winds up to 65+mph out here. Gusts up to 80 I believe they said... I'm wanting to go to the swap but I'm not to sure right now.
Just keep your family safe ! We have been through allot over here on the other side of the Gulf too. Let us know if anyone needs help........
No problem here. Got enough scotch, cigars and the maragrita machine runs good off the generator. Just hope I have enough tequila. Thanks for the concern. Got fresh chains for the saws just in case and plenty of supplies, Hopefully the power will stay on long enough for me to complete the tranny swap on the 54 this weekend. I am far enough north that any surge I get will be from something other than the ocean. Hope everyone else fairs well.
Yea we just lost power so we are out till tomorrow to reserve some power. Hopefully we can all get together for a beer this weekend...............Freds buying
We are out in The Woodlands (N. Houston) right now, and they're saying we'll see anywhere from 60-105 ml/hr wind late tonight. Damn abc13 news can't seem to make up their minds! Either way, we've got plenty of water, food, beer, candles, batteries, and video cameras.

Here in Victoria, we're having one of the prettiest nights in a long time. Gentle tropical breeze, and steaks on the grill. We're just hoping to get some rain out of this tomorrow.
