ok, so im new in here since my neighbor recommended this i thought id try it out.

ive got a 61 chevy apache 1/2ton thats got a 6 cylinder (235). and now me and my dad are looking for an upgrade, we were lookin at maybe putting a split exhaut manifold and a dual intake or and intake for a 4 bbl, something as such

but talking to my neighbor, we kinda figured out it would take some building up of the motor to do this, and we mentioned that we have a 283 sitting in the garage. my neighbor said it just may be cheaper to rebuild the 283 that to upgrade the 6 cylinder.. any thoughts or recommendations?

and whats a good setup for the 283, ive read many threads about people really enjoying their 283's, wouldnt mind enjoying mine too, suggestions??

Suggest you do a introduction here, like the instructions say, then put your request for suggestion on the message board.

Looks like a fine intro to me. Welcome to the hamb. Good luck with the smallblock. Lots of rules and uptight people here. Read all the tech postings and learn.

I suggest a quadrajet, headers and a 350 horse 327 cam. Slight lope, tons of bottom end power and decent mileage.

    Read This First!

The HAMB is dedicated to spreading the gospel of traditional hot rods and kustoms to hoodlums world wide. That’s right – TRADITIONAL. And we aren’t talking Beach Boys and poodle skirts here fellas. If you are into a-side 50’s pop, lawn chairs, ruler contests, and all things that make hot rodding warm and cozy then you might want to find another message board. If you aren’t sure what we mean by “traditional”, then you might think twice as well. If you’ve come here to set a rep, talk some shit, and make some fun then you had better turn around right now. We aren't patient.

Even if you have come here for all the right reasons, don’t expect posting to be easy. We don’t cater to new fellas unless they show a dedication to spreading this tradition of ours first. We welcome young, old, foreign and all – but our original members and our staff expect a certain level of respect and an effort to keep things true and on topic.

Maybe you are an old fart with a past. Maybe you are one of the guys that started this tradition we cherrish. We built this place for you and your posts mean the world to us. Hop on and introduce yourself. This is your board.

Still reading? Then you must be cut out for this, right? We recommend you read some more. Check out all the forums, develop an understanding for how things work around here, learn the “do’s” and “do not’s”… The key to a happy HAMB newbie is to understand the joint BEFORE you begin posting. You want to be happy don’t ya newbie?

We have very few written rules here on the HAMB and that’s the way we like it, but we won’t hesitate to dump disruptive posters, ego freaks, or shit talkers. We are all here to learn and teach - please keep your other perogatives on the sidelines.

    Rules:
    1. No profanity in subject lines
    2. No political/religious/racial posts
    3. No Porn.
    4. All personal information listed on this board is private and protected. The HAMB does not sell this information and you are not privy to use it for your own reasons. Test us on this one and we will bite.
    5. New Users must fill out their profiles. Every bit that you can. Simply click on "User Cp" above and get to work.
    6. New users must introduce themselves in the intro forum.

Now with your newbie attitude, got any more to say, except you don't know how to read.....

Dust yourself off. Give a proper intro. Ask questions in the proper place. Hang in there like a hair in a biscuit. If you @%#& with people, you will get it back. It's up to you. The free advice you get from Vaphead, Bruce, Spadero, Ryan and about 1000 others is once in a lifetime thing. Be humble and apreciate it.

thats hellraisers org post to this thread!! what about that isnt help?? did it answer your car question???no! the reason, he was lettin you know you were in the intro section and thats what you needed to do, to follow the rules! its not our rules, its the BOARDS RULES!! the one thing you shouldnt do, is come in here as a fng, and start runnin your mouth when all he was doin was given you the direction you needed!
so my friend, in the future, take the advice of folks that have been here longer then a day, and try to keep your smartass answers to yourself!
ive seen a million of you cocky lil shits come and go, and i always think......if they werent being a keyboard badass, they might have learned something! best of luck!

ok, i'm gonna be nice here, and use soothing words to guide you

listen ya sugar coated lump of shit, you wouldnt go into the courthouse and piss on the judges bench, then say "oops, im sorry i didnt know there were rules and expectations here"

you fucked up, did something wrong and someone called you out on it. you're embarrassed and that sucks, everyone's been there. dont get all defensive and try to play the poor fuckin me card cause that shit dont work here. grow some thicker skin, stick around and try NOT to learn something here, cause its almost impossible not to with all the knowledge and wisdom this place has to offer. or just leave and dont come back cause whiney sugar coated lumps of shit really arent longed for here

There's a thousand other sites on the web where you could have gone to ask that question. Unfortunately after your little display of ignorance, you may not be welcome on any of them either.
