I had heard stories of multiple fires via the "Jungle Drums" LOL Is that the track with the short shutdown and a huge drop at the end?

Here are a few I got at the 1st Annual "Heartland Hot Rod Reunion" at Thunder Valley in Noble,Ok.
I can't thank Wally and Carrol enough for asking me to help in the Bleach boxes for that race and corrupting me for life.
This would be the Laurens Auto(Racing?) entry 1 in the lanes,2 doing burnout and 3 Staging.
    Sorry,no launches.

There is a ravine at the end of the track. It's not straight down, but it's close.

Yo Baby, that's not an elephant motor, that's a 392. Elephant refers only to the later 426, with the distributor in front.

Landy's Dart was cool, and that's exactly what I buildig now, a stretched nose door slammer '66 Dart.

Cool night tonight. Went to a car show..Was a a small turn out as rain was comin' in. Met some older gents...

"Skip" (if I remember..was the timer at Santa Ana. He was telling about Art Chrisman going 150 (or 140) in '53 ! He said when he saw that dial go to 150..(max'd at 150) they couldn't believe what they just saw..
    Awesome stories..

Skip and friends had built a banger rail..rear engined. Made it as light as they could. Said they'd sit way up front by the axle. I'm looking for a pictures..

I have directed him here. He had no idea what interest there was in those days...

    Nice night..
