Has anyone used these on a 32 frame?

Here are a couple pictures of the rear suspension arms on my 32 frame. The car was probably built in the late 70s and I was wondering if this was popular set up back then. The car handles and rides very well for a buggy spring car. Does anyone know how might have built these?

Hey, I'd like to know also, my 29 pickup (built in the early 70's) my avatar
has the same rear arms, but with a coil spring perch/bucket. so my 29 rides on a pair of coil springs with standard tube shocks.
I've asked several guys who were around building rods then and nobody
so far has known who made them.
If it's any help, out at the LA Roadster's Fathers Day show I ran into a guy
who filled in some history on my truck.
was supposed to have been built around 70/early 70's by a guy in Fresno
bought from him by Boyce Asquith who used it for a runaround truck for his plating shop in L.A. area, after Mr. Asquith passed away the truck was sold for the estate in 91 by the gentleman I met @ Fathers Day to Darryl who drove/abused it until I bought it in 99, cleaned/rebuilt/updated lots of
things to make it roadworthy again.

My roadster was built somewhere on the west coast about the same time. Its an orginal 32 frame but I've never seen one with these arms on the rear. At least there is one other car/truck made that way.

No they aren't aluminum. They are chrome plated.

They look like modified Ford pickup Twin-I-Beam axles...

    I like it.

The reason I'd like to know about this set up is how nice it handles. I wonder why more builders don't use it.

  26. Those arms are made of twin beam ford axles F100 60's ford truck. I came home and looked. God damn why didnt I think of that!

I really doubt you could bend them.

It looks pretty good, however the only thing about mounting the bones to the outside of the frame, is that it has to twist the whole rear axle, so puts a pretty big strain on axle housings. however it makes a helluva rear torsion bar.

  29. I don't see them being that much heavier than a set of 'bones with bracing welded on top for strength, or some of the other home made 4-link or ladder bar setups I've seen.
I think its a great idea for a 3-link setup with factory flavor.
