Is there a measurement for locating the 32 front crossmember?

I took a couple of days off to work on "Franken-jig", The worlds largest toe stumper.

I have pretty much every thing located on the new 32 chassis I am building, except I can't find 2 dimensions, 1 on how far back the front crossmember sits and the other is the location for adding a rear crossmember for coil overs.

I have the drawings from Wescott's site, any other good references. I have been running back and forth from my gennie 32 taking down dimensions but I have no idea how close the repro rails are to stock.

    Thanks

Yes. They have one measurement but it is pretty vague. I am relying on my gennie frame as long as the rest of the aftermarket pieces are accurate.

  5. Can't help you with the dimensions but heres a BTTT for you.

How're the Fleetline, Fly and digger coming along?

I am the king of new projects. The Fly is ready to roll, the Fleetline is on hold and Justin's model A is on the forefront.

BTW, I have the situation remedied now. We'll see how it all looks soon.

What frame is under the 'fly?

  8. I had forgotten about Justin's A. Is he making any ground on it? Did you ever find the wheels you were looking for?

I took off a couple of days to work on the "Franken-jig". The frame is coming together but it is a slow process since this is the first one.

I just ended up making it match the gennie 32 frame I have. The cross members are a little different but I don't think it will make that much difference.

The distance from the leading edge of the front horn to the centre of a Model A front crocc member, and the centre of the rear axle to the rear edge of the frame horn - thanks.

Cheers, and thanks from all the uninitiated for taking the effort.

  18. its 15 and 1\4" from the horn end on the top side of the rails to the centerline of the front crossmeber spring hole that will give you 106" wheelbase

    am I missing something here?

the front crossmember info is plain as day on the drawing available at Wescott's

and the rear coil-overs are going to be after-market,
up to you the fabricator and the parts you choose.

  21. i don't know if your car will have fenders or not , buy if it will not you may want to consider moving the front crossmember 1" forward....So-Cal does that on their highboy frames.

That's what I was kinda thinking of doing. Mike Bishop's book mentions that but I was unsure how that would look. I went with what was on the Wescott's drawing, hoping that my aftermarket crossmember would be close.

Paul, I realize that I will have to fabricate the bracketry ,but I was kind of hoping that there was a standard of sorts for the rear coil over crossmember. I'll figure it out on my own. I always do.

  23. I Agree With Fenders It Looks Better With A 107 "wheelbase And Its Usually 7and 3/8 From The Rear Axle Centerline Back To The Coilover Crossmember Centerline If You Use A 1and 3/4 Crossmember.
