i don't refer to my car as "her" or "she"...i never understood that.
i never gave it a name, but my 6 year old son calls it "the fire car" because of the exhaust flame throwers.
when i refer to my car, i just say "the pontiac".
my wife refers to it as the car that's taking up a spot in the garage.
if i had to name my car, i'd just call it reginald van gleason the 3rd.

  5. I got a '31 Coupe that I chopped 5 inches and put on '32 rails. But when I bought it I brought it home and started taking it apart when low + behold when I pulled the seat out I found a bone under the seat. Not just any bone. This was a large bone.
Now this car is from the depression era in 1931. So this bone could be from anywhere, or anyone. Anything could of happened around that time. So I have no idea where that bone came from, or who lost it.
All I know is that I threw it away before anybody started asking questions and now I call it the Bone Crusher Coupe.

All my cars have a name.. My '54 Lincoln is Missing Link, the Link part is obvious and it was the missing link in my collection. My '95 Ford (sport truck) is called Grimace. It has the factory purple paint and everybody said it was barney purple. Hell NO!! its Grimace purple!! (The big purple guy in the McD's comercials) My first car (that I still own) is a '78 Granada (don't laugh to loud) I call it either the brick ( a very boxy car) or the granade. Even my daily is called the G scort... its a flat balck ford escort.

My current 51 Merc 2 dr build is "Junkury" Bought it before it was parted and crushed. Cant blame the previous owner!

My next 51 Im doing (when I actually get shovels and go unearth it) is already named Eartha. Cuz the freaking junk is like 1 foot into the dirt. Sat for 20 yrs.

My 50 Merc was Pandora, cuz once I bought that thing and started working on it, it was all downhill.

    Let's see...
Dad's '58 Skyliner is "Alice," after the relative who originally bought it
Dad's '30 Sport Coupe is "Henrietta," after Mr. Ford
Dad's (now sold) DD Mercury Tracer wagon was "Barney," cuz of the wonderful color...even had a little Barney toy in the back window
Dad's (now sold) DD Chevy Cavalier wagon was "the Ferrari," cuz it looked like it was painted Ferrari red
Mom's '63 Avanti is "the Avanti"
Mom's DD Saab Viggen is "Mom's Hot Rod," cuz it certainly sounds like one(!)
My '67 Barracuda is "the Barracuda," for lack of anything better...something will come to me one day
My current (Ultra Top Secret) project is "Stink," as in "it goes like stink!"

I think that about covers it...

The Stork. Tom Culbertson dubbed it that name. It was previously a father/son project until the son discovered girls. He then became a Daddy. The father sold it to me so he could get the son, girl friend and baby out of his house!

My old daily was named "Fred" after the legendary C5 Galaxy aircraft. Big, lumbersome, and graceless, that was Fred. Then again too... they say that the C5 is the perfect aircraft - it'll bend, kneel, and take it from both ends.... during loading that is!

My '89 Wrangler is "the Sphincter Shrinker" after I took a ride backwards down a hairy climb called "Donkey Kong" when the brakes failed. Used to have a '57 Chev called "Little Lucy" after the previous owner who was built on a generous scale. Good thread!

clarence; the panel truck in my avitar. had it since february '73. back then there was a lot of internal stimulation around and it just came to me during one of those moments of crystal clear lucidity.

however, in one circle of my friends it's still known as the bat cave or just "the cave". at the frog follies about 15 years ago, right when one of the bat man movies was current, we were sitting around our favorite parking area. several of our friends cars were lined up side by side and clarence was about 30 feet in front with the back doors open. it usually works out that way 'cause clarence is usually full of everyone else's coolers and chairs and stuff that they can't get into their much smaller hot rods. anyway, vinnie & abby's little girl (crs/alzheimers has taken temporary hold; i can't remember her name right now) who was about 3 at the time strolled over to clarence and said "mommy, this looks just like the bat cave." to all the friends who were there that day clarence will always be the cave.
