hello , I love the Chrisman '29 tudor !!! is there anyone with more info , photo's of this car they want to share ? I would love to know more about this car ! Thank you , Slapshot
It made the cover of Hot Rod in the late 1950's if my memory is correct. All my magazines are blocked by a home renovation project so I can't check to see what issue it was.
Jack built the car around 1954 with a fierce flathead, originally intending it as a driver. He decided it was too nice to risk in traffic, so he took it racing. I saw it at the Santa Ana drags around '55, running on fuel, and it blew me away. The striping -- especially the grille insert and the flying eyeball at the back -- were some of Von Dutch's best-known early work. I don't remember the times it turned, but it sounded ferocious and looked incomparably bitchin'. He put a Chrysler Hemi in it after a while. It was recently restored, and I think it's now in the NHRA museum in Pomona. There's sometimes confusion about the various racers in the Chrisman family. Everett was Art & Lloyd's dad, and Jack was Everett's brother.
thank you for the info so far ! anyone know what hot rod magazine to look for ? or might even have scans of this magazine they want to share with us ? thanks !
