I'm not even sure if that's the correct term for it or not, but I'm wondering if anyone has pictures of wheels that have had this application (painted steel rims with white or a lighter color kinda "highlighting" parts of the wheel - yeah, that was a lame description, but hopefully folks know what I'm talking about), and maybe even instructions. Thanks!
Kinda like this???? I would think all ya'd need to do is spin the wheel and fog on the paint......that's what I plan on doing this spring.....
Cool...thanks for the replies. I think "fogging" is the term I should have used. Any more pics of ones people like? (I dig the spider caps, btw). The green '56 in the post Ryan made got me thinking about doing this. The other question, is how do you keep your red rims from looking PINK??
I am 30 and have been around kustom painting my whole life, I have always heard of that as "Frosting" like you originally posted. But if someone tells you "Go to Hail!" you get what they mean! Anyway, I have seen engine blocks and rims sprayed like this to great effect. I have always seen it done with an airbrush. Good Luck!
I did a set on a 61 buick about 10 years ago...can't find any pics but I painted the wheels white first, then used candy blue spray can.....looked like shit and nothing like the wheels in car craft....so I bought a cheapie air brush and sprayed all the candy out of the aerosol can an into the paint cup and fogged ithe wheels with that...Then I was very happy!!! Used chrome bullets and chrome lugnuts with chrome beauty rings to finish the look.
If you dont have good 'can control' then i would think airbrushing would be more suitable for this that way you can really get darker in the important area and fade it or blend it out nice.
here is a pic of some that i did, i know its hard to tell that there fogged, but htis is the only picture i have. im going to go back when i paint the car and redo the wheels to make it more drastic. i just sprayed the whole wheels then used a airbrush and sprayed the white
like these wheels alot, but i dont understand why people do all this work and leave the valve stems in while painting...
i rocked that shit out 5 years ago ..on "the Kabbage "truck ..now it's on my old wagoon . i love it .
anybody have more recent pics of wheel frosting? Plan on doing this for my A and would like to see more examples....
