If you could ask Gene Winfield 5 or 10 questions - what would you ask? I am thinking of "normal" questions like these: With the recent trend to go back to traditional rods and customs - what do you feel the guys today are NOT doing right? Attitude? Craftsmanship? Please elucidate! You are a very busy man these days - everywhere you go people love you - do you ever get tired of the grind of personal appearances and going to the different shows around the world? followup: What was the best show for you in the past year? Of all the cars you have built over the past 60 years - if you HAD to pick one car that would be an example you would want to show the world - what would it be? But what I want from YOU guys - are REAL car questions about specifics about cars............. Let's see what we can come up with!
whoa! thanks for that link - I never knew about that website...........! many hours going to be spent there methinks
Just bookmarked it my self, Thanks guys for the great link! The more I learn the better off I will be on my builds
I spent a weekend with him last month at a workshop he put on. One of the best times I have had, hanging out and learning from a living legend. Give his shop a call and he might just answer the phone.
He is going to be the "Feature Builder" and awarded a Builder of the Year award (not exactly sure what the title is) this coming March at the Detroit Autorama. There will be a real nice collection of cars build by him there.
Gene is a super guy. He is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. Here are the results from a google search for Gene Winfield interviews. I'm sure most of your questions are answered in them: http://www.google.com/search?source...C_enUS218US218&q=interview+with+gene+winfield Gene is a super busy guy. He is very hard to catch. He is quite the globe trotter!
as a hairstylist i would as k, why ? as a reg. guy i wonder why he looks allways such tired till a girl cross his way
I already asked him how he stayed so young, two of the three regimens he keeps I would have a hard time sticking to, but the third one, I can dig that a lot.
I met him at the SEMA show this year ,he is a real nice guy .He was explaining all of the details of one his old cars with a total stranger.
A few years ago Jamie my son, Chastin and his dad flew out to Cali rented a car and drove to his shop. He put Jamie and Chastin in the shop removing the paper from his shop truck that he was painting so he could go to the flats. He answered questions and even said he would fly to Georgia and paint Jamies 60 Belair. Wish we had gone through on the deal. Mr. Winfield make me that offer on my 46. Jimmy
yes - I have met him as well - he is a totally cool cat - and very approachable - and I have talked to a lot of guys he hangs out with as well - and let's just say that the picture there is worth a LOT...... Gene likes the women - but who doesnt? Fortunately for me - I am married so that equation doesnt have to come up - oh - and I look like the elephant man - guess that factors in too................... I just was hoping to get about 2 minutes of face time with him in Detroit and ask him some questions that would be DIFFERENT than what everyone else always asks him............ that way he may actually engage......... instead of why is the Jade Idol sgnificant? or what are you up to these days? blah blah blah - I am hoping you guys would ask - specific questions about specific cars or events that I may not know about......... like "So - when you made the Reactor and it appeared on the show Bewitched - was it hard to get in the pants of Elizabeth Montgomery?"
