A friend of mine and fellow hot rodder has 60 acres of property. While clearing an area of it recently to build a house for his son they came across these Chevrolet's. One is a 37 Flatback sedan. saddly there isn't much left to it. I am not sure it is at all worth any amount of time to get it out. the other is an early 30's full chassis and cowl. There isn't any signs of a body so we have no idea what it was. here are the pics from tonight.
If that upper grille stainless piece is good, it's worth a good buck. And like they said, cut that body at the A-posts and bring it home, along with the cowl tag, that's enough for any talented welder to put on another car and make a flatback from.
Thats shame about the '37. Flatbacks of that vintage are very rare. I'd drag it home anyway, there have been worst put back together.
Well, actually, it's not too far gone for something to be done with it. It'll never win the Ridler Award, but it could be made into something driveable... Here is an example that some guy brought out recently. I think this one was a '37 Olds... The body looked like he put a whole heck of a lotta Naval Jelly on it, put in a motor, and ended up with a pretty cool car... If you look closely, you'll see there's a bunch of rot along the bottom of the doors. Still cool. He got a lot of attention with this one. Kevin
Like everyone says...That's a 37 Coach. Sort of like a Ford Victoria. It's rare enough that there may be people that would like to weld that ass end on a more common 2 door.
from an old parts whore- take it all , you would be surprised what restorers need in the way of odd brackets or a sheet metal section like that back half or a roof (choppers), I have sold alot of stuff that was left from projects that was scrap yard bound, I saw an ad awhile back where someone was looking for a 30's chevy chassis well..
I know the 37 is a rare car. But I don't have the space for it. If anyone out there wants it I can arrange something with my buddy.
does anyone know if a slantback's front fenders will work as patch panels for the front fenders on a 37 chevy pickup? if so i might be enterested in the fenders if the tops are good.. ive never tried it before myself but the lines of the fenders look close..
That coach body is good enough for one of these: Get in touch with the local vintage race car club....somebody would probably like to have the body. www.near1.com
