Hi Fella`s.Is it possible to refurbish whitwalls once they have been scraped/damaged by tiedown straps? The straps have bitten in pretty good,so the whites are scored.(this was done by a recovery vehicle driver who has admitted damaging the tyres but his company want to know if its possible to refurb rather than pay for a new set of tyres!)My thoughts are that no amount of buffing is gonna get them right!

It will probably be hard to bring the whitewalls back to new. If you buff just the area where the damage is, you will leave an unsightly dimple. Regardless of which brand of whitewall you have, there isn't much white rubber there, just a few millimeters. Have them replaced with new ones. That is your safest option.
