I have a 1930 A coupe and I just picked up a pair of 1965 Mustang bucket seats in near mint condition. I still have the stock bench seat in. It sure looks like the Mustang seats are going to be a bit too wide. I wont know for sure until I take out the bench.

What bucket seats are you guys running?

    Thanks

Now thats what I wanted to hear! I really want to use these '65 seats. I got a good deal on them and they look almost brand new. And they are originals.

    Thanks

Is there a mini-van or third-row type seat that has a fold down arm rest built in that would fit a Model A pickup? I know many are using Caravan seats, but I more or less 'need' an armrest.

I think I read on the Hamb somewhere that early Econoline van seats fit well too.

The nice thing about mine is that I'm using a Model AA frame and won't need a 'hump' in the floor to mess with any clearance issues. In fact, I'm even contemplating extending the toe-board out 'square' to the firewall and floor to add an extra 8-12" of legroom.

  10. These started out as fine leather office chairs...!

Got them off ebay for $18 each and they fit and look perfect...!
THIS IS WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE BEFORE INSTALLATION...!

I'm running seats from an 84-85 Pontiac Fiero in my '31 coupe. They just fit, have stereo speakers in the headrests and are really comfortable. Recover kits are available from www.mrmike.com but they've really gone up in price.

Same here. At 6'3" and 270#, I don't want to sacrifice comfort for style or any of that jazz. I'm just wanting a nice seat that preferably has a flip down armrest in the middle of it. The "A" pickup cab is going to be small enough as it is - I don't want to make it smaller with the wrong seat.

    from nowhere...

I found some seats from a Renault Dauphine...perfect! they fit door to door, they were cheap...On a highly channeled car, they would probably have issues w/ the driveshaft/trans. tunnel...

  17. No armrest in the middle, but here's a mid 90's ChryCo Soccer Mom van's two passenger middle seat.
Note the folded up armrests - on both sides.
    They function just fine.
Later ChryCo seats have a single armrest on the right side.
Not as cushy as this seat, but not bad.

It's conceivable some of the Chryco Soccer Mom vans have an armrest in the rear three passenger seat.

If you found an armrest off another car that was anchored in the rear it shoudn't be too hard to adapt it to the ChryCo van seats.

In any event, the Model A cockpits - and 32 cockpits have virtually the same measurements except the 32 is 2" deeper - aren't too large and a center armrest may get in the way more than it does any good.
I'm 6' & 195# and when a passenger is in the 32 roadster we're doing good to stick a camera or similar in between us.
The 32 has a bench seat fwiw.

  22. I think if I was ready for seats, I'd try to find an Olds, Pontiac or Chevy minivan from the mid-90s in a junkyard. The middle row is three seperate seats, narrow enough to leave some room between in an A from the looks of it. Should be easy to find and easy to find with halfway decent covers on them, too. And they look easy to make mounts for. Something like the barn door latch from a Suburban might even be tall enough to work.

Im running a re-covered back seat out of a ford escort hatch back and it fits awesome! Its a bench seat, but still, if your not hell bent on buckets it fits great, and it picks you up off the ground "just so".

I used to have a bus seat (with no legs) from a thomas bus, but I thought it was to low to the floor and I could see my from tires over the cowl.....That made a great garage seat though.....

I went for comfort in the A. My boney, tired old ass deserves it. There's a big difference in what you ass can tolerate at 25 vs 53. Other injuries such as hip, back and neck play a part too. Comfort surpasses cool in your mid life.:D
