  1. Nice cars. I never really cared for Mercs without skirts. I've always thought they looked naked without them. especially lowered ones.

Skirts are for cheapsters that wanna hide their 1/2" Radial white wall behind.;)
Skirtless, say it with me, sounds good don't it?:) [IMG]

Hey Matt that is some stash......WOW

  7. Well, one thing is certain. Mercs NEED whitewalls. The cars with blackwalls look like they're running four spare tires, don't they?

My dad's merc in high school. My dad's merc that he bought almost 4 years ago. Would be nice if the porta-potties weren't in the background.

  13. So...who's the chick? Your mom?

  14. Great! now I have to back to the garage after viewing this.

Yup thats him and yeah i think the conversation went something like that. You see I just bought a merc last month and he was telling me what not to do :)

( sorry hotroddaddy i had to.)

Honestly in person the car isn't as bad as everyone thinks. its kind of fun. Not what i want for mine. but i can appreciate originality.

i picked up a 50 4 door in excellent shape. unmolested. crate 302. solid rockers, couple of small rusty spots, solid frame.

Planning on a 5-7" chop (i can't remember the exact rake that i saw i liked) i want it real tight. and a nice fastback line. I'm considering a hard top pillerless. But trying to figure out the logistics on a 4 door (only seen one done so far) and i get a lot of rain in florida so i need something watertight.

Also deciding on if i'm going to subframe it or not. i've seen a lot of bad clip jobs with the wheels out too far... but i need power steering for my girlie arms and i want disc brakes in the front at least and i want to bag it, so its looking like the best option so far... i just don't want to pay the ridiculous price for the fatman clip

    any suggestions...warnings..

  26. Wow, some really nice cars, and some that really miss the mark too.

    I love Mercs....

  28. Hard top on a four door is hard,if you want windows. There's no good way to do the windows, where they meet. Haven't seen a 5 and 7 chop that looked good yet. When you go more than 5" it looses it's flow in the rear,to me. I have a pic of one chopped 7",and it looks bad. Roofs too low. Dick Dean told me once that a balanced chop should be 1/2 the height of the door. A third, you know. I'll see if I can find the pic.

See what I mean. See that big dip by the rear window? YUK!
