They dig it up on the 15th... a week from tomorrow....

Looks like they are going to have to chip through a lot of concrete

Have they got tickets? There was a thread on here a few weeks ago about how it was turning into a big local government money-grabbing fiasco - expensive tickets, charging local companies to be involved, etc.

I'm placing a bet, that the back hoe drops the concrete on the car and crushes it.

They're using a giant crane for all the lifting. They've already been "practicing" with an identical car from Branson. It's the "sister" car to Ms. Belvedere as they call the buried Plymouth. The "sister" car is supposed to be on display so you can see what it should look like. Compared to a blob of rusted goo.

read up on it, there are sites like tulsarama and buriedcar.com that have more info, or google for "buried plymouth"

the car goes to the person who won a contest that they entered 50 years ago...so you don't have to worry about getting it.

It will be simulcast live on the internet on one of the local TV stations. It all starts Friday 7pm CST. I think it was channel 6. I'm not at home so I don't have the link handy. I'll be watching it on my laptop on my deck enjoying a cold one..

  27. I'd like to say that old Mopars never rust ... but it really all depends on how well they sealed it ... the video shows them covering the engine & entire car with a canvas tarp like material ... don't know how well that will keep the moisture out.

I will however, "go out on a limb" and state that the gasoline they buried with it will have "turned to varnish" many years ago ... the battery will be dead ... and the Schlitz beer will be flat! :D

I was thinking the same thing about the covering of the car, not too sure how well preserved it will be. As far as the battery, yeah, your probably right. :D
